Welcome to week 2 of the NFL and it’s good to be back. Tonight we have a match-up of two teams that really struggled in week 1 as the Cincinnati Bengals host the Houston Texans.
Last week saw the Bengals get shut out while allowing 20 points. The Texans lost by roughly the same margin as they lost 29-7 to the Jaguars. Not exactly inspiring football for the second Thursday night game of the year, but it is what it is. Football is football and we’re glad to have it back tonight.
NFL Betting Tips:
Despite the similar outcomes, there is a pretty big talent gap in this game. For one, week one saw the Texans use two quarterbacks in the game and neither of them exactly had inspired results. The play of Tom Savage was so bad that he might not see the field again as DeShaun Watson is expected to start this game. I’m not sure it matters who starts as outside of DeAndre Hopkins there isn’t much to throw to for them. This could be a serious problem for them all season.
Andy Dalton had a horrible week one, but he is a much more solid contributor and should bounce back in a major way this week. Look for him to have a big game and the Bengals -6 to roll.
MLB Betting Tips:
A team that has been teasing us all season is the Seattle Mariners. They’ve won two straight against Texas in dominating fashion, pushing themselves to .500 and 3.5 games back of the second Wild Card. Tonight they get back Felix Hernandez from the disabled list and tomorrow they get back James Paxton. It’s now or never for this team and I say now. Seattle +105 has King Felix tonight going against Andrew Cashner who is pretty much a dumpster fire. The total on this one is set at 10.5 and the Mariners could meet that themselves the way the team has been swinging the bat this week. This line is weird, Seattle should not be a dog.
The team in their way of that second Wild Card? The Minnesota Twins who have been playing great as of late. They face the Blue Jays at home with Jose Berrios on the mound for Minnesota. Berrios has had an up and down season, but mostly up as he is proving he was worth the hype. The Jays send journeyman Brett Anderson and their season is pretty much toast. Twins -159 are a solid play and with match-ups like this it’s hard to see them not holding on to that playoff spot.
Finally, the last game of the night is the Houston Astros -140 visiting the Los Angeles Angels. The Angels are trying to hang on in the playoff race while the Astros are one of the best teams in all of baseball. They are starting to get healthy too and get to face Ricky Nolasco tonight. That is a boon for them and with Brad Peacock on the mound for Houston, they should roll.
