We are getting dangerously close to playoff time, but the seedings in the Eastern and Western conferences aren’t even close to being settled. Only 1.5 games separate the Cavs, Sixers and Pacers from the 3-5 seeds in the East while in the West only two games separate the 4-8 seeds.
The Thunder are the four seed and only two games back of the Blazers for the third. This is a really tight race and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Jazz continue their ascent. This team has been playing some outstanding basketball right now. They are 25-11 since the start of the year and have the best defense in the entire NBA. If they were able to get to the #4 seed, I don’t see how Quin Snyder isn’t coach of the year.
We have a lot of good games tonight in the NBA and NHL so we’ll get right into the tips. Before I do I wanted to note that I will be doing daily MLB tips this season at BetMLB.org. NHL Betting Tips:
There isn’t a worse story in the NHL this year than the hard luck Dallas Stars. They looked poised for a playoff berth with Ben Bishop coming back to play goal. He went down in his first game back and the team is 1-7-2 over their last, now on the outside looking. They host the Flyers at home tonight who have played well on the road this season and are on the inside of the playoff race. The Flyers +110 is my pick here.
NBA Betting Tips:
The Cavs are back. Kevin Love has made all the difference since coming back as Cleveland finally has another go-to scorer and someone who is familiar with how to play off of LeBron James. They are making their move to lock up the three seed in the East and I think they are a great bet on the road at Miami tonight. Still no Whiteside for the Heat and that works out well for the Cavs offense. I like Cleveland -3 to grab the road win here.
The Warriors are limping to the playoffs. Stephen Curry will miss at least the first round, Klay Thompson is currently out as is Kevin Durant with Draymond Green listed as probable. For the Warriors to be underdogs at home so often at this point in the season is really something. That said, I’m not worried about their playoff chances. This will be the team in the Western Conference finals. It just won’t be as easy as it’s been before.
As for tonight, this would be a great win for the Pacers who are fighting for seeding in the East. They play great defense and I think they can handle the bench units of Golden State just fine. Indiana -5.5 on the road is the play.
