2-0 last night.
The Rockets continued their domination of the Western Conference with a big road win over the Timberwolves. They put up 77 points in the first half and cruised to the finish. James Harden finished with 34 points and 12 assists while Chris Paul was just one assist and two rebounds away from a triple double.
Our other win was the Blazers grabbing their 13th straight win against the Clippers in LA. Portland got points in this one and we knew that was a big mistake. The starters carried this one with all five of them having 16 or more and Damian Lillard led the way with 23 points in 31 minutes.
Big news in the NBA today as Tyronn Lue has stepped down for the time being as Cavaliers coach. I can see the Cavs rallying behind him tonight and grabbing the win. Only problem, they have a terrible defense and they are playing the Bucks. So I am skipping that one. That is still some pretty big news and a real interesting development just a month away from the playoffs.
Golden State Warriors vs. San Antonio Spurs Betting Tips:
No Klay Thompson. No Stephen Curry. No Kevin Durant. No Omri Casspi. The injury bug is biting big time in Golden State right now and because of that the Warriors enter this game in San Antonio as big underdogs. Golden State is really in no jeopardy of losing the #2 seed so there is no rush for these guys to get back, but they are going to take some losses here without the Splash Brothers and KD. I think that they are okay with that and get a chance to see what some of these bench guys can do.
The Spurs had a rough patch recently, but they’ve won their last three and tonight is a good chance for four. There is no Kawhi Leonard still, but LaMarcus Aldrige will be healthy and he matches up nicely with Draymond Green. The Spurs aren’t perfect by any means, but they have a top-3 Defensive Rating and play smart basketball. Tonight is a great chance for them to stretch it to four straight wins, Spurs -7.
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Tips:
Here’s the deal: the Grizzlies have their own pick in the upcoming draft and the Brooklyn Nets don’t. That should tell you all you need to know about the motivations to win of these two teams and the result. The Grizzlies right now have the second worst record and are in pole position for that #2 lottery slot. They don’t want to mess that up here.
Throw in that the Grizzlies are just 5-27 on the road this season are just 1-19 in their past twenty games and there is a lot to like about the Brooklyn Nets tonight. This is a great match-up for the Nets and great chance for them to grab the win. Brooklyn has quietly been one of the better against the spread teams this year, 40-29 against a 22-48 straight up record. I see another win in both categories coming here tonight. Brooklyn -6 is the play here.
