We are down to the last two days of the season. The NBA took the night off last night to avoid competition with the NCAA Championship game. That game was Virginia defeat Texas Tech in a wild one between two of the best defenses in the nation.
Tonight we’ll see the first of the last two games of the season for many of these teams. The Eastern Conference is where most of the intrigue is. The Nets and Magic have gotten it done and they are officially in, but there is a 3-way race for the 8th spot that could come down to the last night of the season.
The Pistons currently hold a one-game lead over the Heat and the Magic, but that team is in a real rut right now. Detroit has dropped four straight and needs to win to avoid a terrible collapse. This was the 6th seed a week ago and barely being mentioned in these conversations. The Heat are right behind them, but they have also lost their last four games.
Surprisingly, it’s the Hornets, who I had written off of this race, who are the hottest team right now. They’ve won their last three games and seven out of their past ten to get to this point. They have a really nice schedule to finish out the season two as they face the Cavaliers tonight and then the Magic tomorrow.
The Grizzlies final schedule is pretty nice as well as they’ll play Memphis and the Knicks, two teams with nothing left to play for. The Heat might be eliminated tonight as they play the 76ers and then the Nets tomorrow. This race should come down to the last day.
Memphis Grizzlies vs. Detroit Pistons Betting Tips:
The Pistons have Blake Griffin listed as questionable here and are ice cold as a team right now, but they are getting a huge gift from the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis is resting Mike Conley, has taken Jonas Valuncunias out for the year, and is basically starting a souped a G-League team here. The Pistons are at home and I they absolutely have to get it done here.
Memphis has very little to play for and the talent difference in this game should be jarring. This is Detroit’s time to shine and for Andre Drummond to earn that ridiculous contract of his. I fully expect the Pistons to show up big here and grab this win.

Charlotte Hornets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Betting Tips:
Of the two, I like this one a lot better. The Cavs are without Kevin Love and that team has just been bad all season long. They’ve lost nine straight and you know these guys are just begging for this season to be over.
While the Hornets are playing some of their most inspired basketball of the season. Jeremy Lamb has been great for them and I don’t see anyone on Cleveland with an interest or ability to stop Kemba Walker here.
