What a Sunday we had! It started off with golfing history with Mr Reliable Martin Kaymer blowing a 10 stroke lead to lose in Abu Dhabi – he traded at 1.01 on the betting exchanges before his imploding. Any layers out there, congratulations on the nice haul! Then we had Arsenal making Manchester City look distinctly average, after West Ham humbled Hull. And then there was the slight matter of the Seahawks literally crushing the dreams of the Packers, and then Tom Brady showing why he’s going down in the history books.

Seriously, if you’re a Green Bay fan, all we can say is that we hope you haven’t done anything too drastic. Seahawks fans, we hope your heads aren’t too sore from your celebrations. As for the Colts fans – we’re sure you’re happy to have gone deep, and in Luck you’ve got an heir to the throne. Patriots fans, we’re sure you knew you were going to the Superbowl, so stop reminding everyone how awesome you think your team is! Anyway, it’s going to be the Seahawks vs the Patriots for all the marbles in February 1st, and it’s going to be a cracker.

Until then, we’ve got a glut of sport to get through, including tennis, as the Australian Open got underway in Melbourne, as well as the usual NBA and NHL fun. So let’s get to the free sports betting tips for Monday 19th January, 2014.

NBA Betting Tips for January 19th

A feast of NBA action tonight, and we have two bets that we really like the look of.

Detroit vs Atlanta.

Detroit is a hot team. Atlanta are hotter. Neither side have looked like losing, but something has to give tonight. Yes, we think Atlanta are going to win, but the 7.5 points is seriously tempting, seeing as the Hawks only got past the Pstions by 3 points last time round earlier this month. Sure, the Hawks are at home, but they’re hosting a team full of confidence, so we’re all over Detroit +7.5 points to get past the Hawks.

Chicago vs Cleveland

The Cavs are back to some kind of form, while the Bulls would just love a win. The fact the Bulls are just giving points away isn’t going to help things against a Cavs outfit that has LeBron back into the line-up, and he’s proved his worth recently. It’s the usual tale of a team coming into form against a team struggling to find any, and the line looks nice for the Cavs, as it could be very one-sided, especially with home court advantage. Cavaliers -3.5 points is our play here.

NHL Betting Tips for January 19, 2014:

Just the one tip for us tonight in the NHL, but it’s one that’s got a lot of value, which is what we love.

Hurricanes vs Leafs

It’s two teams in need of a win here, but who needs the win more? Toronto, of course, especially as they’re playing at home. The fans expect, the team expect, and something has to give here. The Hurricanes are a team that the Leafs will be happy to see coming into Toronto, as they’ll fully expect to get the train back on the track tonight. Leafs in regulation is around 2.00, which is terrific odds given that if the Leafs can click, they’ll tear apart a very weak Hurricanes side.

Australian Open Tennis Betting Tip For 13 January:

We don’t normally delve into the world of tennis betting, but we have a couple of guys on our team that love the Grand Slams, especially the Australian Open, having made the pilgrimage Down Under a couple of years ago. So they’ve come up with a couple of tips for us tonight.

Heather Watson vs Tsvetana Pironkova.

Two form players who will be unhappy to see the draw, with Pironkova going deep in the Apia Sydney International, and Watson winning in Hobart. Both had some great wins along the way, but it was a great return to form for Britain’s Heather Watson, beating a host of seeded players to win only her second WTA title. The Brit’s game is improving, it’s made for the Melbourne courts and her counterattacking style should battle the somewhat inconsistent Pironkova into submission. The bookies can’t split them, but we can – Heather Watson to beat Tsvetana Pironkova is our play.

Garbine Muguruza vs Marina Erakovic.

This bet is purely down to an injury concern. Garbine Muguruza has been hampered slightly in the last couple of tournaments, and there’s a question mark over his fitness. She started off strongly against Angelique Kerber, but then finished tamely, after winning the first set. There’s no doubt she’s a class above Marina Erakovic, but injury concerns and the fact that Erakovic is still quite dangerous means that the 4/1 on offer is great value to back Marina Erakovic to beat Garbine Muguruza. If the tide starts to turn against the Spaniard, she might just throw in the towel. All about the value bet here.
