A 2-1 record last night.
Welp, I said the under on the Twins/Brewers game was a risk play and I was right. The two young starters gave up runs early and this one hit the total fairly early. It was tied at 4 until late, but that is just one run too many.
The Braves absolutely rolled 8-1 in yesterday’s game for the easy -1.5 cover. The Braves offense continues to impress and Sean Newcomb is really becoming a pitcher to keep an eye on.
We also grabbed a close win with the Athletics over the Jays 5-4.
Last day of the weekend series and lots of early games today. Let’s get right into today’s tips.

Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins Betting Tips:
The Braves continue to be a great target as today they face Wei-Yin Chen who has given up homeruns at a laughable rate this season. In four starts he has a 3.24 HR/9 with his FIP at 8.91. He’ll come back to earth at some point, but not today. The Braves are the top offense against lefties this year with an OPS of .850.
I’m not sure it would matter who the Braves started today, but I like Julio Teheran in this match-up. He has a 3.49 ERA/4.86 FIP, but if you take away his first two starts he’s been much better than that on the year. The Marlins have a .619 OPS that is 30th in the league. Yeah, I’m laying the runs.

Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Tips:
I’m always worried about taking overs in Sunday games because so many teams rest players on Sunday. You just never know what kind of lineup you are going to get. I am going to use that to my advantage in this one and go with an under.
Stephen Strasburg starts against a middling Dodgers offense today. Corey Seager is a huge blow to them against righties like this. Strasburg has one good start against the Dodgers under his belt this year and I could see him posting similar strikeout numbers today.
He faces off against Alex Wood who is becoming the defacto ace with Rich Hill and Clayton Kershaw on the shelf. He has had a great season with a 3.35 ERA/2.54 FIP. Better for him, he faces a Nationals team that only hits for a .674 OPS against lefties. Throw in the resting players and both sides and this is a great spot for an under play.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Los Angeles Angels Betting Tips:
I am yet to play the Shohei Otani card this season, but today feels like a great day for it. Otani released his full arsenal in his last start and had great results with 11 strikeouts. I could see that again here against the Rays who strike out nearly 25% of the time.
This is a “bullpen” game for the Rays with Sergio Romo grabbing the start. I don’t love him in that first inning against Mike Trout and this Angels offense can make this one ugly early.

Cleveland Indians vs. Houston Astros Betting Tips:
One of the readers pointed out to me recently that Lance McCullers in May is a beast. For his career he’s 8-2 with a 2.60 ERA in May. I like this match-up against the Indians as they have been decent, but unspectacular against righties.
I am a big fan of Carlos Carrasco, but he has had some true stinkers as of late. He’s allow homers in three of his past four games and the strikeouts have been uncharacteristically low. I don’t love any pitcher against the Astros and Carrasco is no exception.
A bit of a risk, but I like the Astros to pull this one out in primetime.
