Welcome to the Sports Betting Tips for January 22nd, 2015.
The Champions Tour is back in Golf, and we’ve got betting tips for that one for you. We’ve also got betting tips for the Humana Challenge, which is the PGA Tour. That one is a real tricky tournament to predict, with it taking place over 3 different courses.
The NHL is on their All-Star break, and there is only 4 games in the NBA tonight – none of which really appeal to us from a betting perspective. So let’s focus purely on both golf tournaments for today:
Humana Challenge 2015 Betting Tips:
As we said above – this tournament has 3 different courses within it. 2 of the courses are at the PGA West – the Arnold Palmer Private Course, as well as the Jack Nicklaus Private Course. The third one is the La Quinta CC.
The favourite for this tournament is Patrick Reed. Reed won it here last year – however he got that off the back of three hot days. he went just -1 on the last day, but held on for the win.
This course is always about racking up a score, and it’s a case of go low or go home.
We’re going to be doing two E/W bets for this one – with the Top 5 placing. The first one we are going to go with is Zach Johnson.
Johnson is priced at 30/1 which is a huge price for Zach. He had a bad tournament last time out, but prior to that he had came tied for 8th at the World Challenge, and then 7th at the Hyundai. He has had some incredible results. We like the American to be competitive here, and feel 30/1 is a nice price.
Our final pick for the Humana Challenge is Jerry Kelly. Not a name many of you would expect – but we feel the 80/1 price is great. Kelly is someone who is coming into this tournament on form. He had a poor start at the Sony Open but he turned it around and played some great golf. He also was 5th in the tournament prior to that.
We feel Kelly is coming in hot, and feel he is worth the bet.
Mitsubishi Electric Championship Betting Tips:
Quick note that the E/W for this is for the top 4 finishers.
We have one E/W for this one which is Kirk Triplett. 22/1, you just don’t know what sort of Kirk Triplett is going to turn up after the long break. It’s really a roll the dice move – he could come in to this course and dominate the tour early on, or he could start cold and take awhile to warm up. Either way – we think at 22/1 he’s got the chance to be in the top 5, and even potentially win.
Finally we will bet on Bernhard Langer but this one will be outright. He is 6/1 which is a fair price but we think he should be a higher favourite to be honest. There’s slight value on him here and we’ll take that especially considering the way he ended the last tour.
