A much better night last night, thanks to Co Stompe not hitting another 180 and Kurt van der Rijk firing in a nice checkout in his defeat at the hands of Newton. We went 2-1, taking us to 3-4 after two days, and we’re at -3.22 units.

So we’re back on track thanks to a couple of Europeans and no thanks to an Aussie taking the first set off Justin Pipe! We’ve got a HUGE day of darts action ahead of us, with two sessions to placate even the most hardened of darts fans. Add in some of my favourite players and some close matches and it’s darting heaven today!

The PDC 2012 World Championship started in blistering fashion last night, with the defending World Champion, Adrian Lewis, struggling over the finish line against Nigel Heydon, Mark Webster losing in a classic encounter with Richie Burnett, and Roland Scholten turning back the clock to demolish Jamie Caven with a scintillating performance.

For us, we went 1-3 last night, putting us at -4.55 units for the first day of the tournament. If you’re keeping score at home, our Richie Burnett/Mark Webster tip was for 1.5 units.

Another unlucky night for us last night, with us going 1-4, taking us to 5-11 for this horrible, horrible tournament. We’re now -4.75 units, with one day left for us to get some Christmas spends.

We’re not the only ones hurt by last night’s results, with Gary Anderson, Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld making shock exits. Well, a poor day, if I’m being honest. That’s the danger of short format darts. We came close to the highest checkout early in the Dave Chisnall match, Mervyn King battered in a 170 at the wrong time for us, but Co Stompe was a convincing winner.

So, we went 1-4 last night, taking us to 4-7 and a loss of -3 units, so I’ll never hide behind the figures, it was a lousy night. Let’s get back on track with some big darting action. An early start, so be ready for a 1:00pm
