Tonight the quarter-finals conclude, and we’ve got two matches that don’t inspire as much as last night, but I do think they’ll be interesting for different reasons. We start with Richie George taking on Jan Dekker. Both men have shown real grit to get through, with their opponents having chances to put them away. But both men are through after scrappy matches. And then it’s tournament favourite Scott Waites taking on Paul Jennings, bidding to go at least one better than last year. This could be the sleeper of the quarter-finals, as both men have impressed in their first two matches and both men will be hungry for that win.

Last night, two great matches and they would have been worth of semi-finals compared to tonight’s matches. Wesley Harms and Darryl Fitton put on a BDO masterclass, and the 5-2 scoreline doesn’t do justie to the performance of Fitton. He’ll be gutted not to make the semi-finals, but Harms was just the better player. The same can be said about Tony O’Shea’s win over Robbie Green. Both men fired in the big scores, but it was O’Shea’s grit and determination, as well as his experience in BDO World Championship quarter-finals that got him over the line 5-3. Any two of those four men deserve to be in the semi-finals due to their performances, but we get a rematch of last year’s semi-final with Wesley Harms taking on Tony O’Shea on Saturday.

Tonight we quarter-finals begin, and we’ve got four of the BDO’s biggest names taking to the stage. We start with Darryl Fitton of England taking on Wesley Harms of the Netherlands. Both quality players and both men will be confident they can make it through. And then we get the battle of the heavyweights – Robbie Green taking on Tony O’Shea. Again, both men will be confident of a win here to see them through to the semi-finals.

Last night, while not the highest quality of darts ever seen on TV, provdied a lot of excitement, starting with Jan Dekker squeezing past Garry Thompson in a tense clash. Then we had Paul Jennings comfortably seeing off Ireland’s Jason Cullen in a 4-0 demolition. Scott Waites was net up, and he was pushed a little bit by Geert de Vos, but his quality shone through in his 4-1 win. Finally, we got another nip-and-tuck affair with Richie George just getting the best of Jimmy Hendriks – it wasn’t a classic exhibition of quality darts, but it was an exciting match.

Last four Second Round matches tonight, and we start with Jan Dekker taking on Garry Thompson. A close one on paper, and it’s a great way to start the night. Then we have Paul Jennings facing Jason Cullen of Ireland, in the only match of the tournament featuring two unseeded players. Then Scott Waites will look to cement his position at the head of the market against Geert de Vos in a match the bookies see as very one-sided. Finally, we have Richie George hoping to emulate his father’s success when he takes on the conqueror of Martin Adams, Jimmy Hendriks. It’s not a night full of big names in darts, but there should be some close, exciting matches.

Last night’s action started off with Robbie Green beating Scott Mitchell 4-1 quite comfortably. Green had a bit of a blip, but he got through. Then we got the match of the tournament so far, with No.1 seed Stephen Bunting losing to Darryl Fitton in a cracker of a match. Then Wesley Harms was pushed all the way by Alan Norris, before coming through 4-3 in a match strewn with missed doubles. Finally, Tony O’Shea survived a slow start to ease past Steve Douglas 4-1, without ever really looking in danger.
