After just over a week of fantastic darts action, we’ve got to the final, and it has a familiar ring to it, as old foes Phil Taylor and James Wade square off on the Blackpool stage, in a rematch of last year’s World Matchplay final.

Both men have played great darts and have the second and third highest tournament averages, as well as beating all-comers. OK, I’ll admit it, I watched the opening ceremony alongside the darts last night – James Wade and Michael van Gerwen put on a show, but it didn’t compare to Danny Boyle’s show. That being said, we had an afternoon session beforehand, which is always a treat.

No joy for Justin Pipe last night, as Ronnie Baxter used the hometown advantage perfectly, and he makes an unexpected apperance in the semi-finals, where he’ll be taking on Phil Taylor. James Wade was a quality winner over Michael van Gerwen, and he takes on Terry Jenkins, who just keeps on beating the so-called big guns.

Free tips are now 3-3 with a profit of +1.75 units. Premium Picks are 18-10 and the profit is over 22 units.

What a great night of darts – a 9-darter, a couple of close matches and Dean Winstanley firing in a bagful of maximums yet couldn’t hit the doubles when it counted.
