Last night’s action had it all – we got tight matches, averages over 100, an upset and, the creme de la creme, Michael van Gerwen’s 9-darter. His performance was fantastic, and we can’t take anything away from Steve Beaton’s performance, as he averaged just over 100 in defeat. There was also somewhat of an upset win for Terry Jenkins, while James Wade won comfortably, and Adrian Lewis stopped a determined fightback from Andy Smith to get through to the quarter-finals.

A great night of darts last night, with Dean Winstanley getting a huge win over Gary Anderson, after trailing 5-0 on his World Matchplay debut. We also saw a shock win for hometown lad Ronnie Baxter, as he defeated the in-form Dave Chisnall in a high-quality encounter. Earlier we had comfortable wins for Justin Pipe and Wes Newton, but it has to be said that James Hubbard certainly impressed, and he’s going to be a force to be reckoned with in a couple of years.

Apologies for the lack of a free betting tip last night, technical difficulties restricted me to sending out the Premium Picks. However, the free tip for the 2012 World Matchplay is back with a bang. However, the Premium Picks really are going with a bang and are now 8-4 after last night’s action, showing a healthy profit.
