The first two (I guess it’s technically three) rounds of the 2012 UK Open are in the bag and we’ve had a few shocks and a few scares along the way. BDO veteran Tony West lost in his first appearance on a PDC stage, and Steve Beaton followed him out the door, before The Count stepped up to show them all how it was done with a tasty 4-0 win over Danny Dutson, putting us in a nice position after one day. So, although we went 1-1, the free tips are in profit to the tune of 3.5 units.
Of course, Ted Hankey failed to make it past Mervyn King, but he wasn’t the only one to fall. James Richardson was a relatively high-profile casualty, losing to Jim Walker. 2005 runner-up Mark Walsh couldn’t make it past Jason Crawley, while 2003 runner-up Shayne Burgess also got knocked out. Add in the scares James Wade, Mark Webster and Paul Nicholson had, and you can see it was a great night of darts action, as is always the case on the first night of the UK Open.
Before we get onto the free tips, I want to remind you that we are running a Premium Picks service for the 2012 PDC UK Open.
