Not long now, English Premiership fans, and with Tottenham’s win over Manchester United, Leicester City have now achieved Champions League football for the first time in their club’s history. That’s right, even if they lose every game until the end of the season, and the four teams below achieve the best results possible, Leicester City will be heading to the top table of football. Of course, we knew that some time ago, and the same applies for Tottenham, as although it’s not mathematically achieved, I think it’s safe to say Chas and Dave will have to write a European song for Spurs’ Champions League campaign next season. I mean, yes, I think Arsenal and Manchester City also have it locked in, considering how inconsistent Manchester United and West Ham are, although after looking at the two teams’ performances over the weekend, West Ham were by far the better side. Manchester United looked terrible against Spurs, while West Ham will actually feel disappointed not to have taken all three points against Arsenal. Still, a point is better than nothing, and Andy Carroll put himself into the Euro 2016 picture, surely, even if he’s just there to make the numbers up, more or less.
But enough of the recap, how did Lawro get on last week? It looked a tricky enough week last week, with a lot of fixtures between some evenly matched sides. That didn’t stop Lawro through, oh, no! In fact, the legend that Is Mark Lawrenson had his best week for quite some time as he managed to get 7 results correct out of 10 possible results, and then he topped that off with 2 correct scores, with Bournemouth’s 2-1 win landing a nice 9-1 winner for Lawro. And what does that mean in terms of profit for the week? I mean he has to have a profit, yes? Of course he does, and Lawro made a profit of 10.48 units last week, which by Lawro’s awful standards of late, is unbelievable. That now takes Lawro’s season loss to -51.18 units So if you were to back all of Lawro’s weekend predictions to a £10 stake, you would be down £511.80 for the season. Thank God we didn’t back his weekend tips, as we’d be down a hell of a lot more.

It’s another interesting week of fixtures, and Lawro might just cop a few correct scores here, as there looks to be a few tight matches. But what’s interesting for me is the price of Leicester City to beat West Ham. Sure, West Ham have been going well, but it’s Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, and they’re almost evens. In fact, even Lawro thinks they’re going to win, and Lawro has been so late on the Leicester City wagon that it was becoming absurd. I would also argue that Manchester city to beat Chelsea is a bit of a bold prediction, given the fact that Manchester City have been inconsistent away from home, and they’ve also had their European exploits to tire them out, while Chelsea have had a week off. But, hey, it’s a big one for Manchester City, while Chelsea are playing for pride, and no doubt Lawro has taken that into account with his 2-1 prediction.
