Last week in the English Premiership, Chelsea asserted their dominance at the moment as they got back to the top of the table with a hard-fought win away to Middlesbrough on Sunday. Before that, Arsenal struggled to a point away to Manchester United, with a late goal saving the blushes of the Gunners. Manchester City had Yaya Toure to thank as he bagged a double in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace. Liverpool’s momentum took a hit as they played out a 0-0 draw with Southampton, while Sunderland’s revival continues. Leicester continue to struggle away from home, and West Brom somehow managed to put four goals past Burnley. During the week’s European games, the big story is Leicester City going through to the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners after beating Brugge 2-1 at home. Manchester City drew 1-1 against their German opposition (no, I’m not typing their name), and Arsenal came from 1-0 down to lead PSG 2-1 before conceding again and getting a 2-2 draw. Spurs continued to be awful. In the Europa League, Southampton lost and Manchester United won – it wasn’t that exciting, to be perfectly honest.
Well, our legendary tipster, Mark Lawrenson, got off to a great start last week, with a prediction of 1-1 in the Manchester United vs Arsenal game last Saturday, but then things started going a bit awry and although he got a few correct results, there were no more correct scores and that means that he managed to make another weekly loss, even if it is a small one, and that loss is 1.5 units. More importantly, what does that do to Lawro’s running total for the season? He now sits as a loss of -14.07 units. Sure, it’s not a huge loss and a few correct scores gets him out of this pickle, but he’s been struggling the last couple of weeks and if things don’t turn around soon, that loss is just going to build and build, which is never good for followers of Lawro’s predictions.
And before we get into Lawro’s Premiership predictions for this week, I have to mention the great promotions at Bet365, so go and make the most of their Bore Draw promotion. If you’re not familiar with the Bore Draw promotion, if you place a bet of up to on any of the correct score, half-time/full-time or scorecast markets, and the game finishes 0-0, Bet365 will refund your money.

It’s yet another safe week from Mark Lawrenson, as he goes for wins for all the big guns, although he doesn’t think Spurs can bag a goal against Chelsea, which might be a shock, although how poorly Tottenham played during the week, that might just be possible. It’s not a particularly exciting week of fixtures and not an exciting week for Lawro’s predictions. Of course, now we’re hitting the festive period, the fixtures are going to start to come thick and fast, so hopefully Lawro pulls some surprises out of his Christmas sack to excite us!
