We’re back to the normality of the Premiership after a week of cup fixtures. First of all, we had the FA Cup over the weekend and then we had the League Cup during the week. To be honest, I’ve lost a bit of love for cup competitions over the years after the bigger clubs were fielding full reserve sides, but I have to admit that I loved watching Manchester City just run riot against West Ham – there was something oddly satisfying about it, considering I have no real passion for Manchester City. What is evident during the week is that Jose Mourinho might have finally got his big guns starting to click ever so slightly. Of course, this week we’ll see just how well they’re playing together when they host high-flying Liverpool at Old Trafford. It is, of course, the big game of the weekend, one of the biggest rivalries in football and it will hopefully be a cracker.

There are a lot of predictions of 1-1 draw from Lawro. In fact, he’s gone for a 1-1 draw in 50% of the game this weekend. Looking at it, I’m really not confident that his predictions are going to make him any kind of profit this week. If he does come away with a profit, it will be some kind of post FA Cup miracle. I guess we need to believe in miracles this weekend, folks, and if there’s anyone that can perform a miracle, it’s the great man himself, Mark Lawrenson.
