The English Premiership kicked off last week, and we had some amazing games, especially on Sunday afternoon, which was a nice change. I actually watched the Bournemouth/Manchester United and Arsenal/Liverpool games in an Irish bar in Madrid, which was a nice way to start the English Premiership season. I mean, seriously, anyone that backed Liverpool to win 4-3 deserves every penny they won. It was a great game, and you have to worry about both team’s defences. Elsewhere, the only real shock was that Leicester were so poor against Hull. It doesn’t bode well for the defending English Premiership champions losing to a team like Hull who barely have enough fit players to make a first team squad. Jose, Conte and Pep all passed their first test, although all three sides failed to convince at times. Needless to say, it’ll take a little bit of time for them all to bed. I mean, seriously, Manchester United were poor in the first half against Bournemouth, and Chelsea laboured to a win over West Ham, but, hey, a win’s a win, isn’t it? I have a feeling that the rust won’t last long for any of the sides.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, how did the great man, Mark Lawrenson, get on? Well, how do you think he got on? He managed one correct score in the Everton/Spurs game, and correctly predicted wins for the big three of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea. Apart from that obvious wins, he started the new season as well as he finished the previous one. So, with an outlay of 20 units, Lawro had 5 winning bets, and he came away with a loss of -5.6 units, which is a terrible way to start the season. It would have been nice to have even just eked out a small win, but it wasn’t to be. Needless to say, Lawro needs to get going with some winners as soon as possible, or it’s going to be a long season for him and his followers.
Now, remember the Bore Draw promotion at Bet365. If you’re not familiar with the Bore Draw promotion, if you place a bet of up to on any of the correct score, half-time/full-time or scorecast markets, and the game finishes 0-0, Bet365 will refund your money. So if the game ends up a stinker, you’ve followed Lawro’s prediction on it, but it’s 0-0, it’s cash back – not bad at all.

I mentioned last week that Lawro was finally on the Leicester Express, and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to let their defeat last week derail that, considering he thinks they’re going to get a point against Arsenal, something Leicester didn’t do last season. But again, he’s not going for any shocks. It’s probably too early in the season to start thinking about that, so I can understand why he’s playing it safe. And remember, Manchester United versus Southampton is on Friday Night, the debut outing for Sky Sports’ Friday Night Football, featuring the lovely Rachel Riley, so don’t forget that.
And also, something else you shouldn’t forget is to place your bets at Bet365 through the link below, where you will get up to £200 free and place a bet on the game prior to kick-off on the correct score, half-time/full-time or scorecast market, and if the game ends 0-0 you will get your stake refunded, which is always nice.
