I’m not sure if there’s anything worth note to mention in the opening paragraph this week. I mean, yeah, Manchester United lost to Bournemouth, Manchester City just scraped a win over Swansea… Oh, who am I kidding? Chelsea lost to league leaders Leicester, and then Jose Mourinho got his marching orders. It had been coming for a few weeks now, but, hey, according to reports, Jose gets a £10 million golden handshake and the players can start hating someone else now. Is anyone in the world shocked by this sacking? No, of course not. It was only a matter of time, and the only shock is the Guus Hiddink is in line for the job until the end of the season (when Pep will be free). But who wants the job? It’s a poisoned chalice, surely? The squad’s in tatters, morale is low, but if you do well and get them into the top six, so what? Anyway, enough of that, we’ve got more important things to worry about, Mark Lawrenson’s tips before he buggers off to have his Christmas dinner next week.

So how did Lawro get on last week? He got four correct results and one correct score. He correctly predicted the Arsenal 2-0 win over Aston Villa, and he got the draw between West Ham and Stoke, and the wins for Crystal Palace and Manchester City. But what does that mean? Well, once again we’ve made a loss, and this time Lawro has cost us to the tune of -3.77 units. So our loss is now accumulating, and we have now lost -5.75 units. Damn it, Lawro! Come on, man, stop messing about and change your score prediction system.

And you’ll probably skip this bit, but don’t! If you want to be on Mark Lawrenson’s predictions for this week’s English Premiership fixtures, we can’t forget that our friends at Bet365 are doing their Bore Draw promotion again this week. Remember, if you place a bet of up to on any of the correct score, half-time/full-time or scorecast markets, and the game finishes 0-0, Bet365 will refund your money. So once you’ve looked at Lawro’s tips, head on over to our good friends at Bet365 and get your money down.

Chelsea vs Sunderland

Not a bad way for Chelsea to get back on track, surely. Lawro certainly agrees and he’s going for a 2-0 win here. The Chelsea win pays 1/4 and the correct score pays 5/1. I don’t see why Chelsea can’t get back on track here, since Sunderland are the kind of side that blow hot and cold, and coming down south for this game, it’s going to be tough for them. That being said, is that short a price real value for Chelsea? Of course not. Not that I’d be tipping against them, of course. But you never know!

So why not use this match to makeuse Bet365’s Bore Draw promotion? Head on over to Bet365 and get involved, because Chelsea have been poor up front, and Sunderland will park the bus, so 0-0 looks more likely than a Sunderland win. So get on Lawro’s prediction of a 2-0 to Chelsea and place your bet at Bet365 and if it’s 0-0, you get your money back!

Everton vs Leicester

An interesting game here, actually. While Leicester have been going great guns, it’s places like Goodison Park that are tricky to get points, but they have to if they want to maintain this challenge. Hell, even one point would be good, and that’s what Lawro is predicting here, he’s going for a 1-1 draw. The draw pays 5/2 and the correct score pays 13/2. Yeah, that looks likely to me, although maybe 2-2, as both sides score for fun, Everton have Lukaku and Leicester have that Vardy bloke. So I would think an open game, either side could nick it, but if I was pushed for a correct score, 2-2 looks the best to me.

Manchester United vs Norwich

Like Chelsea’s game against Sunderland, this should be a good chance for Manchester United to get back on track with a win. Norwich should have been half a dozen down in the first half against Everton, and while United don’t have Everton’s creative spark, it would seem, their defence is harder to break down, so Norwich will struggle. Will it be a huge win? Knowing the way Van Gaal plays, probably not. Lawro agrees, and it going for his standard 2-0 prediction. The Manchester United win pays 4/9 and the correct score is 6/1. That 4/9 could look ridiculously huge come the final whistle, as Norwich are going to struggle here.

Southampton vs Tottenham

Ugh, a horrible game here, potentially. Both sides slumped last week, and although Spurs had been on a great unbeaten run, sometimes they were just painful to watch. It’s the same with Southmpton. They were once fun to watch, scoring for fun and playing exciting football. Now, they just aren’t that good. But Lawro is predicting goals, he’s going for a 2-1 win to Southampton. The home win pays 8/5 and the correct score pays 10/1. An awful game to predict, and I’m surprised Lawro isn’t going for the draw, if I’m honest. I can see this ending up 1-1, or even 0-0.

Stoke vs Crystal Palace

Compared to Southampton vs Tottenham, and it’s night and day. Sure, once upon a time that might not have been the case, but Stoke at home are playing great football, and Crystal Palace, as I say every week, are just fun to watch most of the time. But where does Lawro think the points are going to go? He’s plumping for a 2-0 win to Stoke. The Stoke win pays 29/20, and the correct score pays 14/1. Madness from Lawro, surely? Palace are playing well, and should be able to get a goal. I’d be tempted to go for a 2-2 draw here, but 2-0 sounds like madness. He just seems to hate Palace as much as he hates Leicester.

West Brom vs Bournemouth

Another interesting game here, actually, with both sides coming off big results, West Brom almost beating Liverpool, drawing in the dying minutes. Bournemouth, well, they beat Manchester United convincingly. Lawro seems conflicted here, and he’s going for a 2-1 win to West Brom. It’s 11/8 for the West Brom win and 10/1 for the correct score You know, Bournemouth are playing without fear right now, and it might just play into their hands against West Brom. I’d be tempted to back Bournemouth to continue this winning run and steal the 3 points from West Brom. But it’s a tough one, for sure, to predict.

Newcastle vs Aston Villa

Crazy to think after the past couple of weeks that Newcastle are on a bit of a run, while Aston Villa are still pretty much terrible. Yes, Newcastle shocked fans of the English Premiership with a 2-1 over Tottenham, totally against the run of play for most of the match. There might just be confidence back in that Magpies, and Villa might just pay for this. Lawro agrees and thinks Newcastle will win 2-0. The Newcastle win pays Evens and the correct score is 9/1. 2-0 might be underestimating Newcastle and overestimating Villa. 3-0? 4-0? Newcastle should and will win, but as for a correct score, we could be looking at a big one here.

Watford vs Liverpool

I think I say it every week about Watford, just like I do with Leicester and Crystal Palace, but Watford are great to watch. But he’s taking on Lawro’s beloved Liverpool, so we know what result Lawro will be going for. That’s right, he’s went for a Liverpool win, and he’s predicted the correct score of 2-1. The Liverpool win pays Evens and the correct score is 17/2. Liverpool will want to bounce back after a poor performance against West Brom, but Watford might not be the place. I think Watford will get a draw here, and if they get lucky, maybe even get a win. Why not? It’s been a weird season already.

Swansea vs West Ham

0-0 anyone? No? I think Swansea would take that after their recent run. And West Ham, they could play a blinder or a shocker. But Lawro has faith in Swansea and is predicting a 2-0 win, which is a bit of an interesting selection. He might be basing it off the fact that Swansea almost got a point against Manchester City, but it’s still a weird prediction. Anyway, the Swansea win pays Evens and the correct score pays 9/1. I think both sides could just cancel each other out, though, and 0-0 looks good to me.

Arsenal vs Manchester City

The big one of the week, by a long way, and both sides haven’t been the most convincing sides of late. But it should be a real cracker of a game, regardless. Both sides are ravaged by injury, which makes things interesting. It could go either way, but maybe playing at home will be an advantage. Lawro definitely things it will and is predicting a 2-1 to Arsenal. The Arsenal win pays a generous 11/8 and the correct score pays 9/1. I couldn’t predict this. Manchester City have been average of late, and Arsenal seem to just be doing enough, so maybe a draw? Possibly. But it could be a home win or an away win. I’ll chuck a few quid on Lawro’s prediction, though, as it’s as good as anything.

Lawro will need to turn things round soon, and he’s taken a couple of risks this week. Fewer predictions of draws than last week, even though the results look far more likely to be draws, in my opinion. But, hey, we have to keep faith in Mark Lawrenson, because he went well at the start of the season, and he’s good enough to turn things round. Well, the last part might not strictly be true, but we have to keep faith. Keep the faith, followers of Lawro!
