It’s time to look at the month of September, and the sporting events that are taking place in September 2015, with our September 2015 Sporting Events Calendar.
Of course the most hyped returning event has to be the NFL, which returns in September. There’s also Floyd Mayweather fighting(we’ll be at it!) and a whole lot more. Let’s get to it.
Baseball:
The baseball season will wind down throughout September, with all of the playoffs being finalized. The MLB playoff season kicks off in October, with the wild-card round on October 6th.
Basketball:
We have the Basketball Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony on September 11th.
Boxing:
Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Andre Berto takes place on Saturday, September 12th 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. On the same night, Anthony Joshua will take on Gary Cornish in London.
Cycling:
Beginning September 1st it’s the Mountain Bike World Championships, which take place in Andorra. September 6th sees the beginning of the Tour of Britain.
Football:
The CFL continues with Week 11-Week 14 throughout September. Games take place every weekend.
The NFL returns on Thursday, September 10th 2015 with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road at the New England Patriots.
Golf:
PGA Tour: Sep 4th: Deutsche Bank Championship, Sep 17th: BMW Championship, Sep 24th: TOUR Championship.
European Tour: Sep 3rd: M2M Russian Open, Sep 10th: KLM Open, Sep 17th: 72nd Open d’Italia, Sep 24th: Porsche European Open.
LPGA Schedule: Sep 10th: The Evian Championship, Sep 18th: Solheim Cup.
Champions Tour: Sep 18th: Pacific Links China Championship, Sep 25th: Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach.
Hockey:
The NHL pre-season schedule will be taking place. Games begin September 20th.
Horse Racing:
Most notable event is the St Leger, Doncaster on September 13th.
Mixed Martial Arts:
Quiet month for UFC, with UFC 191: Johnson vs Dodson II on September 5th, and UFC Fight Night: Barnett vs Nelson on September 27th.
Bellator 142 takes place on September 19th. Tito Ortiz vs Liam McGeary.
Bellator 143 with Warren vs Davis takes place September 25th.
Invicta 14 is on Saturday, September 12th. WSOF 23 is on September 18th, 2015.
Motor Sports:
The Formula 1 season continues with the Italian Grand Prix (September 6th), the Singapore Grand Prix (September 20th) and the Japanese Grand Prix (September 27th).
Rugby:
September 29th is the date of the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final.
Soccer:
All the regular seasons continue as per usual. The Champions League group stage will kick off with games over Sep15-16 and Sep 29-30.
Euro 2016 Qualifying has Matchday 7 & 8 from September 3rd through September 8th.
Tennis:
The US Open takes place from beginning of September until September 13th.
Wrestling:
WWE Night of Champions is on Sunday, September 20th 2015.
