The Champions League is back, and we are pumped! it makes Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons that much more fun, and we’re going to make it even funner by starting up a Champions League Betting Challenge.
What we’re going to be doing is a trends betting system – basically look at the past two seasons of the Champions League, look for certain trends then bet on it.
This is going to be a basic trends betting system – what that means is we don’t dive too deep into it. It’s purely for entertainment purposes to make matches like Maribor vs Sporting CP more exciting – follow along if you want, and if not then sit back and watch us blow money just for fun!
For these what we are going to do is look for common trends in the last two years based on each Gameday, then bet on it. So it’s the first games for all the teams in the groups – that is all we will look at.
If you’re wondering how much we will be betting – it’s 1/4 a unit.
Here are the bets we will be making covering both Tuesday and Wednesdays games:
Champions League Challenge #1: Arsenal to win 2-1
In the 2012/2013 Champions League, Arsenal started it off with a 2-1 win away to Montpellier. Last season, they won 2-1 over Marseille. Again, this was away.
Guess what There’s a trend! So we will be placing a bet on Arsenal to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1. 12/1 odds.
Champions League Challenge #1: No Draws Accumulator
Last year out of the 16 games there was just 1 draw. The year before? There was only 3 draws out of the 16 games.
So we’re going to do 2 accumulators. The first for Tuesdays matches, the second for Wednesdays matches. On all 8 games for that day we’ll bet there won’t be a draw.
Tuesdays odds are 3.74/1 and Wednesdays odds are at 3.66/1.
Champions League Challenge #1: Goals In A Half
We’ve noticed that matches with the bigger teams usually mean more goals in the 2nd half, while matches with the 3rd/4th ranked teams usually mean more goals in the 1st half.
Based on that, we are going to be betting every game and what half has most goals. We will do individual bets on that. We think tomorrow has a better 4/4 split but will include today anyway.
