Iceland face Hungary in the third match in Group F, the first in the second round of fixtures in the group, and the game takes place on June 18th at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.
Iceland have created footballing history, getting their first point in the European Championships after their well-deserved 1-1 draw against Group F favourites Portugal. Their performance can be summed up with one word: defence. We knew coming into the tournament that the Iceland defence would be solid, and the fact they kept arguably the best player in the world out just shows how well they played. They also created a few good chances, and could have won it if they had just managed to take one of their chances later on in the game. They’re going to be full of confidence, and are no doubt already heroes back home.
Hungary turned back the clock in beating Austria 2-0, in what was a solid performance. Yes, Austria had them pinned back for a lot of the first half, but they came out in the second-half full of energy and got the three points they deserved. Yeah, Austria were down to 10 men after they went 1-0 down, but Hungary deserved their win and are now in a great position to qualify from Group F, and might even fancy their chances of winning it.
Iceland have faced Hungary 10 times, and have only won 3 of them, with Hungary winning 7. There have been no draws between the two sides since their first meeting back in 1988. Hungary have won their last 5 meetings, with their last win coming in a friendly in 2011, which they won 4-0.

Iceland vs Hungary Match Betting Tips:
The odds are tight here, and it’s easy to see why. The one thing is that Austria played an open, free-flowing game against Hungary, which allowed the Hungarians the opportunity to play some good-looking football, and get some chances. They’re going to struggle to do that against Iceland, no doubt about it. Iceland, on the other hand, created some good chances against a good Portugal side, and are going to look to build on that. The prices are tight, but Iceland to win looks the play here, as they really impressed me against Portugal, and their qualifying record suggests they’re the better side here.
Iceland vs Hungary Prop Bets:
I fancied Hungary and Austria to be an under 1.5 goals affair, and I felt a bit robbed after the sending off and the last Hungary goal which cost us the bet. It did back up the theory that Hungary are solid defensively, though, as Austria couldn’t break them down. We went under 2.5 goals in the Iceland versus Portugal game, and that came in, too. Like I said before that game, Iceland keep a lot of clean sheets, and if they can keep Portugal, with Ronaldo and co to just the 1 goal, they should keep Hungary to that, if not fewer. Under 2.5 goals is what I’m going for here.
