It’s the final day of the UK Open, and we’ve got the quarter-finals this afternoon, then the semi-finals and final tonight. Eight men are left standing, and there’s no fairytale story, just proof that class will shine through in darts. We have Phil Taylor through, as expected, and he’s joined by Terry Jenkins, Raymond van Barneveld, Dave Chisnall, Wes Newton, Robert Thornton, Jamie Caven, and Denis Ovens.
So the lowest ranked player left is Robert Thornton, who is ranked 34th in the PDC rankings. Denis Ovens is 23rd in the world, Dave Chisnall is 22nd, Jamie Caven is 21st, while the other four players are ranked in the top ten in the PDC. So, class has shone through this year, and each player deserves their spot in the UK Open quarter-finals.
Denis Oven did us a huge turn last night, making our free tip a winner, which takes us to 3-1, with a profit of +8.75 units. So if you’ve followed each tip, you’ll be quids in. Not bad for a free tip or two each day, is it?

Dave Chisnall, as I mentioned yesterday, was my pick to take the title, and he’s still going strong, although he’s had a horrible draw the past two rounds, getting Simon Whitlock last night, and facing Barney in his quarter-final tonight. Phil Taylor is obviously – and rightly – a short-price to take the UK Open title, but there’s still a lot of darts left to play.
