A tough night last night for Blake Snell and for me for betting on him. It was a very random deal where he got the first two outs of the inning and then allowed the next six batters to reach base. He kept getting into two-strike counts, but couldn’t finish. It was very weird and random, and it cost their team the game.
The Indians and White Sox game ended up really being something with neither team scoring a run in the first nine innings of the game. Shane Bieber was excellent for the Indians, going the full nine innings. I always say that extra innings are a coin flip and this is one we lost.
In the NBA, I’ve gotta stop underrating the Suns. They are really good! Whenever the Heat are about to start looking like last year’s Finals team, they let me down like that. I am done with them!
San Diego Padres at Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Tips:
Starter | FIP- | wRC+ | Rank | L14 | Rank | Bullpen | Rank | L14 | Rank | Park | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
SDP | Joe Musgrove | 75 | 108 | 6 | 112 | 7 | 87 | 1 | 73 | 4 | |
PIT | Tyler Anderson | 102 | 89 | 29 | 98 | 13 | 103 | 26 | 101 | 11 | 98 |
I’m going back to this tip today after Snell screwed us. Joe Musgrove, coming off his no-hitter, against his former team should continue to be dominant. Despite what we saw yesterday, this Pirates offense still isn’t good!
Tyler Anderson is a pitcher who doesn’t fit the profile of a guy I trust at all with high walks and low strikeouts. Anderson is hittable and the Padres should be able to ding him early.
Texas Rangers at Tampa Bay Rays Betting Tips:
Starter | FIP- | wRC+ | Rank | L14 | Rank | Bullpen | Rank | L14 | Rank | Park | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
TEX | Kohei Arihara | 118 | 91 | 28 | 87 | 21 | 101 | 24 | 133 | 25 | |
TBR | Josh Fleming | 95 | 102 | 15 | 102 | 10 | 90 | 4 | 112 | 20 | 96 |
Rich Hill was scratched here and that made the Rays a good value with the switch to Fleming. No team in the league can throw pitchers at a team quite like the Rays. I don’t see him going even the full five here, but the Rays will back him up strong. The Rangers offense will likely do them some favors as well.
Arihara is a guy that the projections are really low on. The Rays offense isn’t the greatest, but the go 1-9 with solid hitters which could be a problem. Tampa is well worth a bet here.

Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers Betting Tips:
Here’s all you need to know about this game: Kevin Durant, LaMarcus Aldridge, Blake Griffin, and James Harden are all listed as OUT for this game. Kyrie Irving might play, but he has been away from the team for personal reasons.
The 76ers will be at full strength and they are playing at home. They’ve looked dominate in their last two wins, winning by at least 18 in both. Joel Embiid is back to dominating and he should absolutely do that here with the Nets missing a ton of size.
This line should be double digits. I’m on it at -7.
Miami Heat at Denver Nuggets Betting Tips:
The Nuggets lost Jamal Murray to injury for the season and that just stinks. This was a team that I was really considering to be my favorites to come out of the Western Conference playoffs and now that is all gone. They are still a quite good team and tonight they face Miami off a back-to-back at Denver.
I haven’t got the chance to bet road back-to-backs at Denver much this season, but it is one of the hardest things that can happen to a team in the NBA. The elevation difference is a killer.
Additionally, I always like going with a team after they’ve lost a big star. There is just something about it where they seem to show up strong the next game and get things done. There is no reason that shouldn’t happen here today against a road weary Heat team.
