A 2-1 record last night.

Two wins with one major misstep with the White Sox over the Orioles. Ivan Nova had a nice little start to the season until yesterday. He ended up pitching four innings and giving up 11 hits and 9 runs.

We also had the Cubs who didn’t waste any time. They scored four in the first, two in the second and cruised from there. Kenta Maeda continued to struggle on the road while Jose Quintana cruised with a 7IP, 2ER, 7K performance.

While the Nationals game played out just as I thought it would. Patrick Corbin had a very solid start while the Nats beat up on Chad Bettis. There was an unearned run that the Rockies got in early, but the Nats tacked on two more in the ninth to seal the deal.

A good day all around, let’s keep it going.

I am really tempted to go under 9.5 on the Reds/Braves game. The Reds offense has just been meh all season while I actually like both starters in this one. I just can’t do it though. The Braves bullpen has been very rough this season and the Reds offense does have good hitters. The Reds home park is very underrated in terms of run scoring too. Not gonna be able to do it. Plus, it’s too early to go under.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets Betting Tips:

The Phillies have hit the ball well early and Jason Vargas has… let people hit the ball well. He’s been hit hard in three of his first four starts and now faces a Phillies team that hits lefties pretty well. I don’t love his chances. Also, the Mets bullpen has been very bad early with a 5.49 ERA/5.14 FIP.

Vince Velasquez goes for the Phillies and I’m feeling good about him. He’s allowed two runs or less in all three of his starts, posting a 2.55 ERA/4.18 FIP. That second number is a little worrisome, but in his last start he really saw his strikeouts jump. If he can keep that going here, I have faith in him here.

New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels Betting Tips:

I know that CC Sabathia isn’t as good as his 0.00 ERA, but I still have to go with him here today. Even if he is like his 3.65 ERA/4.16 FIP of last season, I think he’ll do well here. The Angels have just been awful against lefties on the year. They have just a .295 OBP/.316 SLG on the year against southpaws. I don’t feel great about them doing much better here.

While the Yankees offense is a huge question mark and half the team is seemingly injured, the team should have Gary Sanchez back for this one. He was hitting tons of homers early and he’ll be a big boost. It should also be a boost going against Felix Pena. He’s allowed four homeruns in four starts and has only made it to the five inning mark once. I know this isn’t quite the Bronx Bombers, but I see him doing well here.
