Last night saw three teams make it to the next round of the NBA Playoffs, and the most incredible one was in Portland.
It’s fair to say that even prior to last nights game, this was the series of Damian Lillard. He has stepped up like you only dream of in these playoffs and it was only fitting that he won the game after a massive 4th quarter comeback by the Blazers with a buzzer beater ridiculous three point shot.
Absolutely incredible scenes. The Blazers were down by 15 at one point in that quarter and what a comeback.
Raptors moved on as expected with a nice dominant victory. 76ers moved on but what a disappointment from the Brooklyn Nets who just couldn’t recapture that game 1 magic at all.
The Nuggets took the win and the lead in the series against the Spurs.
Tonight is Wednesday, April 24th and we could see two other teams move on as the Rockets and Warriors host the Jazz and Clippers respectively. Both teams are 3-1 up in the series.
Warriors vs Clippers Game 5 Betting Tips:
Graeme: Not much to say here. I predicted the gentlemans sweep by the Warriors and it looks like it’s going to come in. The point spread is 14pts and that’s just too high for me. Likely see a similar game like the Raps where they take a big lead then sit back. No Bet as the variance is strong in this one.
Vin: Wait, this series is still going on? I honestly had to double check when I was looking at these lines. That’s how over this one is.
That being said, I really don’t trust this Warriors team to cover this spread. They were one of the worst teams against the spread as a favorite during the season with a 33-45 record. They failed to cover in the last game and I can see their bad habits showing up here again after two big wins.
No bet for me here. This team is great and should win by 30, but I just don’t trust them to.
Jazz vs Rockets Game 5 Betting Tips:
Graeme: I predicted Rockets would win this in 5 but due to the price, I took the 6 games instead so I’ll be hoping for the Jazz to take this one.
Jazz did seem to get things together last game out and you have to wonder if they can take things here. This is a huge game for them. If their defence can keep it going it’s anyones game.
No Bet
Vin: The Jazz got their win. They were down 3-0 and facing an early exit from the playoffs, but they showed up big for the home fans and forced this game five. This game was all about the fourth when the Rockets managed just 12 points and Donovan Mitchell scored 19 in the final frame.
The big difference maker, to me, was Jae Crowder who had 23 points. Crowder had just 19 points total in the three previous games.
Overall though, the Rockets just didn’t have it in this game. Between them being on their home court, Crowder not repeating that game, and James Harden due for a big one – it’s hard for me to go against the Rockets here.
I don’t feel quite comfortable laying the big -8 here though. I do see the Rockets forcing the Jazz to play their game though. That means big points and I can see this one easily going over.
