We were quite unlucky last week in the Players Championship. Hideki Matsuyama had 3 solid rounds to open, however went over par on the last day. If he had hit just par on the last round we would have cashed and it would have been a profitable torunament.
But alas, it was not to be. It happens and that’s golf. I mean look at Jason Day and his first two rounds compared to his last two.
Let’s get into this weeks golf betting tips:
AT&T Byron Nelson Betting Tips:
The first one that stands out for me is Charley Hoffman who I will be taking to win and E/W for half a unit. Hoffman just won the Texas Open a month ago and had an excellent performance at the Zurich Classic as well. His performance at the Players Championship could have been better but you look at his place since the WGC Cadillac and it has been pretty damn solid.
He has a great history at this tournament with a 2nd place last year and I’ll be taking Hoffman to win & E/W.
I’m also going with a half unit on Matt Kuchar to win and E/W. With two Top 10 finishes here, and some solid form recently plus coming off a tied for 3rd place at the Players Championship – yeah I think we’ve got to bet on Kuchar here.
My final bet is on Ryan Palmer. From Texas himself, he does tend to perform better on the Texas courses. He came 4th recently at the Texas Open and showed some decent form at the Players Championship. He’s also performed well here in the past. I’ll be betting a half unit on Palmer to win and E/W as he is a nice price here.
Irish Open Betting Tips:
It’s a new course this year for the Irish Open as is pretty standard to be honest. They move around all the time.
I actually wasn’t even planning on betting it this week. I had a quick look on the weekend and wasn’t feeling it. However with Rory McIlroy participating and at a very high 4/1 it’s pushed everyones odds big time. The 2nd favourite is Danny Willett at 18/1. This ones going to be a tough, tough course so it’s going to be very interesting and I’m actually looking forward to it.
While I’ve put a bit of work into the picks, these are more bets from an entertainment purpose to give me something to cheer while I watch it on the weekend.
All are quarter unit bets unless stated to win & E/W:
Joost Luiten: One of my favourite golfers to bet on who has won us a lot of money over the years – he’s go the ability and I think he has what it takes here.
Scott Hend: Hend has had a lot of solid performances recently like at the Volvo China Open and True Thailand Classic. He’s ever performed well in his few outings at the Irish Open but I do like his form at the moment.
Peter Hanson: In a few simulations I did he stuck out enough for me to put a bet on him.
Danny Willett: After his performance at the Masters you have to be impressed with his abilities and I’ll be doing a half unit bet on Willett.
