We had a fantastic day yesterday with the UK football back on, going 3-0. And wasn’t it nice just to have it back? I can’t wait for the EPL season to start though – we have the Community Shield today and we’ve got betting tips on that. But meh – I always find those games to be dire affairs.
We had Hibs-Hibs in the Scottish Championship and they went up 2-0 in the first half. Livingston gave us a scare in the second half but the match ended 2-1 as Hibs were able to ride it out.
We had Boro to beat Birmingham and they beat them 2-0 and with ease. Boro looked really solid there.
Finally we had Motherwell to do the business against St. Mirren and called the game well – we said it’d be a cautious, conservative Motherwell and that was the case.
We also had a betting challenge that I’ll talk about at the end of these tips.
For now, let’s get to the Sports Betting Tips for August 10th, 2014:
Community Shield Betting Tips: Arsenal vs Man City
In a game that is slightly more respectable than a friendly, we think Arsenal are the team to back here.
Man City will find it hard to be motivated – especially after winning the title last year. Arsenal want this more than anything – we saw them in the FA Cup last year and how bad they wanted it. Plus we think Wenger has made the right moves over the Summer.
Expect Arsenal to be exciting and passionate, and City to be lazy and apathetic. It’s just hard to see motivation for this Manchester City team for a game like this – while it’s that much more important not to Wenger, but for the Arsenal team as a whole. Every single player, from the players of last season to the new players they brought in, will be doing everything they can to do the business this match-up. Man City meanwhile – this is nothing more than a warm up for them. They’ll start taking things seriously next week – and I don’t think there’s anything Pellegrini can really say to get them motivated for this.
Scottish Championship Betting Tips: Rangers vs Hearts
Rangers looked lively against Hibs in the first half, yet once they took the lead they went into the second half looking cautious and it cost them. They finally got the win in extra time but we think we will see a similar pattern here.
We like Rangers to take the lead early, and then at half time sit back and try and defend where they become a mess. The odds of 14/1 on that are just massive. Hearts have the skill and ability to remain competitive – and honestly I don’t think they’re that bad for the league title. We’d recommend most likely betting Hearts to win the league – but playing at Ibrox is very bloody tricky, and we think even though they may even bet the better team the draw is going to be a good and fair result.
