Welcome to the free sports betting tips for Monday, August 1st, 2016.
So, I went AWOL last week, purely because of the arrival of my little girl into the world. But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean I’ve taken my eye off the ball. Fortunately, she’s a sleeper right now, so I can keep on top of all the sporting action that’s been going on. And, again, what a weekend it’s been. We saw Lewis Hamilton extend his lead at the head of the formula 1 Drivers’ World Championship, but the biggest shock was Jimmy Walker coming from nowhere to land the US PGA Championship, holding off World Number 1 Jason Day by one stroke. It was another great finish to one of golf’s Majors, and after the great year last year with the duel between Day, Speith and McIlroy, 2016 has been another great year in golf. Seriously, the sport has been revitalised with some tense finishes and real battles between some of the game’s great and good, as well as some surprise names coming out on top, too. Oh, and Novak Djokovic won yet another Rogers Cup title, beating Kei Nishikori in the final.
Now, let’s get onto the free sports betting tips for August 1st, 2016.
MLB Betting Tips
Red Sox to beat Mariners. There has been a lot of talk over the internet today about this game, for one simple reasons – the Mariners went 12 innings in a late finish in Chicago last night. It’s not ideal prep facing a side like Boston, and with the Mariners blowing hot and cold, the Red Sox just scream a value play here. Yes, it’s a later start for Seattle, but you really do want a bit of down time before having to get some practice in.
Royals to beat the Rays. Yes, the Royals are in a bit of a skid right now, but they have one saving grace, and that is they have Danny Duffy on the mound tonight. The stats all point to Duffy being their saviour tonight, although the Rays are trundling along nicely with a decent winning streak going on. We can expect a low-scoring game here, but I think it’s time the Royals got back to winning ways on the road, and there’s a shade of value taking them to see of Tampa Bay tonight. It should come down to the closers, but by then hopefully Duffy has done enough to get the Royals in a winning position.
Nationals -1.5 to beat Diamondbacks. Washington are hot as hell on the road right now and Stephen Strasburg takes to the mound, so what’s not to love? Arizona have been beat on lately, and it shouldn’t stop tonight. I’m seeing this as a definite win for the Nationals, but there’s no value to be had on the ML, so giving them a handicap looks like the best way to go about it. The Dodgers hit Arizona for 14, but I doubt we’d need anywhere close to that to get this bet over the line.
