A 1-2 record last night.
Tyler Skaggs had his worst start of the season, allowing ten runs to the Rays. That cost us a loss there. Heading into the game he had great numbers across the board, but sometimes you just have to wear one.
Matt Boyd surprised me as he continued his great pitching in a 2-1 win over the Reds. I really thought the Reds would hit him as they’ve killed lefties all season, but he’s been hot and shut down the Reds offense. Perhaps more surprisingly, the bullpen held the lead.
Those were two teams out of the playoff picture, teams I normally don’t like to play this time of year. The Indians were our other pick and they rolled over the Twins.
Not much the system likes today. A few of these lines were right on with the betting odds so not a ton of value out there. It’s still pretty hot outside though so there are a couple of overs that I’m looking at today.

Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Betting Tips:
Cole Hamels is making his first start for the Cubs here and he has to be happy to be out of Texas. His numbers have been significantly work in that ballpark than away from it this season and a switch to the National League should help as well. That said, he’s still looking at a 4.72 ERA/5.20 FIP and facing a red hot Pirates offense today. He’ll have a new catcher and some adjustments will need to be made. I think he’ll give up some runs here.
He faces Nick Kingham who is not too far off in his stats with a 4.80 ERA/5.20 FIP. He faces a dangerous Cubs offense that has a 106 wRC+ against righties on the season.
This total just feels a bit too low and I think we’re seeing at least nine runs here.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Tampa Bay Rays Betting Tips:
I really like some of the moves that the Rays have made and I think this could be a pretty good team down the stretch and into next year. The pitching they gave up has ready replacements in the minors and the offense is much improved. Considering they had a basically average 100 wRC+ on the season, they should end up being pretty darn good. Tommy Pham is a huge upgrade over Tommy Pham.
They face Nick Tropeano today with his 4.82 ERA/5.47 FIP so they should get a chance to flex their muscles a bit. This offense went off last night and I could see them doing well again here today.
New acquisition Tyler Glasnow starts for Tampa and it’s probably going to be a bullpen type game for them again as he’s not stretched out to start. He has a 4.34 ERA/3.63 FIP this year and he could get getting a rude awakening to the American League. The Angels are a very tough offense on right handed hitters and they should score some runs here.
