Yesterday we covered the American League and now we moved on to the National League and the World Series.
The National League this year was always going to be dominated by one team and it’s hard to see how the events of the world are going to change much of that. One team has more depth than all the others, more superstars than all the others, and more money than all the others. That team is the Dodgers and they are an absolute juggernaut.
The Dodgers are a +160 favorite to win the National League and it seems very likely that they will do so. That said, there is a lot of baseball and recent history has shown that weird things happen when we get to the playoffs. That’s a long ways away though. Let’s try and get through the season first.

MLB 2020 National League Champion Betting Odds:
I am finding it hard to make a case for anyone besides the Dodgers here. This team has the most projected wins by most of the projections and they just have an insane amount of depth. They were already one of the best teams in the league and they added Mookie Betts. They go eleven deep on offense and six deep in the rotation. The addition of the DH only helps them as it allows for them to get more of their batters into the lineup each day.
The NL East is a really tough division, but whoever makes it out seems like a good bet. The Nationals are a much different team than the one who won the World Series a year ago, but they have some of the best pitching in the league and their offense is filled with interesting young players.
I feel less strongly about whoever comes out of the NL Central. Those teams are all pretty evenly matched, but they are also no match pitching wise for the Dodgers, Nationals, or even Mets in a long series.
MLB 2020 NL Central Champion Betting Odds:
This division is going to be an absolute blood bath. The Cubs, Reds, Cardinals, and Brewers are all very close in projections and one lucky run from any of them will win this thing. I have a soft spot for the Reds, but I would not bet on this division unless you had a rooting interest.
MLB 2020 NL East Champion Betting Odds:
I find these odds interesting since the current FanGraphs projection has the Braves, Nationals, and Mets all finishing at 33-27 with the Phillies not too far behind at 31-29. This isn’t quite NL Central level, but it’s going to be very tough to win this division. I don’t like the Braves as much as the projections.
I would probably go with the Nationals +250 here. They have the rotation to get it done and the offense is filled with interesting young players. A lot depends on the performance of Victor Robles and Carter Kieboom, but I believe in the youth movement.
MLB 2020 NL West Champion Betting Odds:
This is going to be a bloodbath in a much different way. The Dodgers are going to kill all of these teams.
MLB 2020 World Series Champions Betting Odds:
I am a big fan of the Dodgers this season, but how do you bet on the Dodgers to win the World Series after the way they have performed in the World Series of the past couple of seasons? A lot of luck is involved in this stuff, but they just make me nervous. There is something about them that makes them just…not win.
The Yankees are going to be very scary this season and I would not be surprised to see them in the World Series. A match-up with the Dodgers would almost be too perfect as they also met in the weird 1981 split season.
As much as I dislike the Astros, their odds are probably too low here and might be worth a small bet. The Astros winning the World Series again after all that junk in the off-season would honestly be pretty hilarious and perfect for 2020.
The same can be said about the Nationals who despite losing Anthony Rendon, still have Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg which absolutely makes them a threat to win this thing.
