Group E in the World Cup kicks off on Sunday June 17th with Costa Rica vs Serbia early in the day. We then close out the day with the other clash in that group as Brazil take on Switzerland.

The groups only question is “who will qualify along with Brazil”. Favourites to win the World Cup, Brazil are expected to just storm this group. Bad news for Switzerland as that means they will be playing catch up.

Brazil were winners of the CONMEBOL Round Robin tournament. They played 18 games, won 12, drew 5 and only lost once. That was the opening game against Chile – who didn’t even end up qualifying. In the process they scored 41 goals although conceded 11 goals.

Switzerland required the second round to qualify from the UEFA qualifiers. They did so in a 1-0 aggregate win over Northern Ireland thanks to a Rodriguez penalty. They had been excellent in the group stages with a 9-0-1 record and didn’t qualify automatically simply due to goal difference. Portugal were higher with +28 against +16. However Switzerland deserve a lot of plaudits for some impressive victories and we really can’t take them lightly.

Brazil Analysis:

Brazil hit a complete low when they lost 7-1 to Germany and they’ve turned things around big time. Tite has got them performing exceptionally well and most importantly they’re playing well as a team.

Missing Dani Alves really sucks for them but having Danilo as a backup isn’t the worst thing in the world. I mean this is a team wich such quality. Guys like Thiago SIlva at the back, creativity from the likes of Renato Augusto and Philippe Coutinho, and strikers like Gabriel Jesus and Neymar. I mean it’s just ridiculously quality throughout the squad.

These guys deserve to be the favourites and on an individual basis I’d rate them higher than Germany. The question is whether they can perform as well as a cohesive unit.

Switzerland Analysis:

Switzerland were unlucky in the group stages not to win their group outright in qualifying and now it’s similar here. Sucks for them playing Brazil first too because you have to expect the Brazilians to win and that makes things tricky for the Swiss. Adds pressure on them on their fight for second place.

This is a team with some great qualtiy and it’s been wonderful watching the Swiss evolve over the years.

They’ve got some incredible players like Shaqiri obviously and Ricardo Rodriguez. He is an exceptional defender. They seem a lot more cohesive as a team and that’s important on the national stage. I really hope they make it to the knockout stages.

Switzerland vs Brazil Betting Tips:

I think Switzerland have enough confidence in their team to go for it and try for an upset. I just don’t think they’re the type to sit back. In saying that it was more controlled defensive performances at Euro 2016 so it’s very likely that we do see something like that.

This is a tricky game to handicap but I’m going to back Both Teams To Score for 1 unit. It’s 2.10 odds and available at https://www.Bovada.lv.
