August is upon us and it’s a grand month with the Scottish Premier League kicking off on Saturday. Of course the biggest game of the weekend is on the Sunday, as Aberdeen square off against Rangers. Massive game for Gerrard to start his domestic career with and what a win that would be if we can pull it off.
We have just one more week until the English Premier League kicks off but the Championship kicks off this Friday which is good.
Serie A is the week after that as is La Liga.
Great time to be a football fan.
I’m undecided yet if I’ll tip those games or not – I generally like to wait to get stats and data in for a good few games. It’s like when I do the NHL Tips – the first opening week of the season is the most nerve wracking as it’s basically guess work. So we’ll see how it goes. Maybe some small unit plays.
For now let’s focus on Wednesday, August 1st and what we’ve got here. Although I do like the stats to back my tips, I feel like I’ve watched enough Champions League this season to have a grasp on things so going to give it a try here. All small plays though.
Champions League Betting Tips: Spartak Trnava vs Legia Warsaw
This one is actually taking place today – July 31st. But I was reading some stuff and decided to go with it.
Legia lost the first leg 2-0 in a big surprise. However apparently their team had some stomach issues. Regardless I just can’t see Legia performing so poor again.
Trnava really aren’t that good a team. Overall Legia are the better team and I have to think we see a much better performance from them here in a game they need to win.
One big issue is they will have to push up and Trnava will be able to counter. Legia didn’t look too good defending counters in the first leg but again – it’s hard to see them perform that badly in this match up. It just looks like a bad start to the season for them but they got a solid 2-1 win away to Korona over the weekend and I think they can at least win this one if not qualify.

Champions League Betting Tips: Malmo vs CFR Cluj
For Malmo to get the win last week was huge as the Rosler resurgence continues. Their road form has been below average this season so it was good that they got that win.
They’ve been solid at home in the Allsvenskan and CFR Cluj haven’t looked good domestically yet. They just don’t seem to be able to get going. The keeper made a big mistake to allow Malmo the goal in that game.
Despite being away, Malmo did a great job of controlling the game and were overall the better side. Cluj were a frustrated side too giving up a lot of free kicks. It could have been a bigger win if not for a couple of solid saves.
The one thing I am concerned about is the draw however I do think Malmo are the better team and they’ll want to give themselves some space and go for the goal. Cluj are a team in disarray at the moment. The only negative on Malmo is fatigue – both in Europe and domestically they’ve seemed to really tire in the last 30 minutes.
