A handful of football games happening in midweek. The EFL Cup is taking place in England but I’m going to skip that. There’s some Serie A games, the El Clasico, and a few others.
I get the feeling I’ll be covering the weekend football quite early this week but with some Bundesliga games taking place Tuesday and Wednesday I’ll look at covering them.
Christmas is coming up but I don’t plan on really taking any days off. If it happens it happens but I expect there to be tips every day.
Let’s get to the Bundesliga tips for December 17th, 2019:
Werder Bremen vs Mainz Betting Tips:
A bottom of the table clash here as 15th placed Werder Bremen take on 14th place Mainz. Mainz are 1 point ahead of Bremen.
Both teams come in off poundings from a couple of the top teams. Bremen made the mistake of scoring a goal against Bayern Munich early on. Not a good idea. Munich got mad and it ended up in a 6-1 thrashing. As they go into the Winter break, Bremen will be looking at wins here and against Koln who are 17th to give them some space at the bottom.
Mainz had that loss over Borussia Dortmund. They don’t have a bad record recently in their visits here so that will motivate them. They’ll be missing Jerry St. Juste though which will weaken their defence.
While the results don’t really reflect it with a 1-2-4 record, Bremen ARE a better team at home overall. Using advanced metrics they are more of a mid table team at home. A combination of bad luck and lack of goalscoring has hurt them.
I like Bremen to show what they are made of here and get the win.

FC Augsburg vs Fortuna Dusseldorf Betting Tips:
FC Augsburg are 11th in the league and Dusseldorf are 16th.
Augsburg come in on the back of some solid form as they have went 5 games without a loss. That loss was a tough 2-3 loss to Schalke so that is impressive.
Dusseldorf come in on the back of a a 5 game run without winning however you can’t fault them too much there. Leipzig. Dortmund. Bayern Munich and Schalke. And they still got a draw against Schalke.
However they struggle a bit on the road while the on-form FC Augsburg perform better at home. Augsburg score 1.86 goals on average at home while Dusseldorf concede on average 2.38. Dusseldorf also struggle to score.
I think the murderers row of teams will be too much for Dusseldorf to have overcome. It will take them time even with Alfredo Morales returning for them after his suspension. I like Augsburg to get the win here and keep their run going.
