I thought something was fishy with the Rockets being such a small favorite against the Pistons, but I missed just how badly the injuries would affect the Rockets in this one. The Pistons dominated the boards and the Rockets lost the free throw battle as well. The Pistons got to the line 25 times while Houston only made it 18 times. Jams Harden did have a big game with 39 points.
Our other pick was the over in the Mavericks and Heat. This game was aided by an overtime, but we hit the over before even getting there. I honestly feel pretty lucky we got this one as Luka Doncic went out early with an injury, but the team was able to rally to play a solid game without him. Tim Hardaway Jr. lead the way with 28 points for the Mavs, but the Heat were able to pull out the OT win. Jimmy Butler finished with 27 points while Tyler Herro added 19 off the bench.
In other NBA action last night, the Bucks improved their winning streak to 18 straight. They had a huge win over the Cavaliers at home, 125-108. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton combined for 53 points, but they weren’t needed for much of this one as the bench was able to take over for the fourth.
Philadelphia 76ers vs. Brooklyn Nets Betting Tips:
Philadelphia has won five straight games and nine of their last ten. Now they make the short trip to Brooklyn for a game against Kyrie Irving and the Nets. The Nets have been a tale of two teams as they have resembled last year’s scrappy team when Kyrie sits, but looked more like the pre-LeBron Cavs when he plays. They will be without Kyrie for this one with Caris LeVert also out. Spencer Dinwiddie has been leading the way and I like what I’ve seen from him.
That said, I’m not sure this team has the top level talent to hang with the Sixers here. Joel Embiid is easily the best player in this game while there isn’t anyone on Brooklyn who can quite match-up with Ben Simmons. I like the Nets as a sneaky cover team, but tonight feels like a game where the Sixers continue their roll.

Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Tips:
The Kings have been getting beat up by the Warriors for years and it seems like they are really going to revel in the chance to flip the script here. The Kings have been one of the better against the spread teams in the league at 15-10 and I really like them as a road favorite here. They are 11-15 on the season which still puts them in contention for a bottom playoff spot in the West, something this team would love to do.
The Warriors are just not good. They lost too many players to a thin roster and they should be going for the top pick in this year’s draft. I can’t take them too seriously and the fact that this line is this low is a great opportunity to make some money.
