The Jacksonville Jaguars finally got a win last week after losing seven straight and torpedoing any playoff aspirations they may have held. That win wasn’t very encouraging though as the final score of the game was 6-0, beating Indianapolis. My apologies to anyone who may have watched that.
Jacksonville will head to Tennessee tonight to take on the Titans. They have a solid defense that has carried them to a 6-6 record and they have slim playoff hopes. This seems like an easy win until you consider that the Colts, who just lost 0-6 to the Jaguars, beat the Titans 38-10 three weeks ago. This isn’t exactly a marquee match-up.
Another game that should be a marquee match-up, but isn’t right now is the Jazz and Rockets. Both of these teams are a game under .500 right now and the loser will fall to two back. That’s a bad place to be in the hyper competitive West. Both teams have shown signs of improvement, but they aren’t giving a ton of confidence to their fans either. I’m not sure what to make of that one.
NFL Betting Tips:
Both of these teams are allowing under 21 points per game on the season so this should be a defensive match-up. What it will depend on is what offense can get things going. While he hasn’t been as good as the hype once suggested he would be, I still like Marcus Mariota a lot more than Cody Kessler in this one.
Mariota is coming off two good games, over 280 yards and 2 TDs in each of his past two games. Throw in what he is capable of on the ground and he’s quite the threat. I am not looking for a huge game from him here, just enough to get things done and lead his team to the win.
NBA Betting Tips:
Finally, finally, finally! The Celtics are figuring it out. They are 4-1 over their past five games, Gordon Hayward is starting to return to form, and the defense is doing a great job night in and night out. They draw a home game against the Knicks tonight which should just continue the way they are rolling. This is a big line, but I thought it would be in the teens. Boston is great at home, the Knicks are going nowhere, and this one is on TNT. Expect the good version of the Celtics to continue their roll here.
NHL Betting Tips:
The Red Wings and Maple Leafs game today has one of the biggest moneylines you’ll see in an NHL game at -310. That is just a sad state of affairs for a once great franchise. It’s great news for Leafs fans though.
Despite the massive line, the total is set at a modest six goals. I say modest because I can easily see the Leafs hitting that number by themselves. Auston Matthews is back in the lineup and Michael Nylander is getting in there too. This is a dangerous offense and the Wings goaltending is among the worst in the league. This looks like it will be a 4-2, 5-1 game… by the second period. Take the over.
