Yesterday in the NFL we saw what may be the game of the year as the 49ers defeated the Saints in New Orleans by a score of 48-46. This game was nothing but fireworks between two of the best teams in the game. The win put the 49ers at 11-3 and that, combined with the Seahawks loss, put them back in control of the NFC West and the #1 overall seed. This has to be considered their biggest win of the year and most impressive game of Jimmy Garoppolo’s young career.
Last night also saw Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs beat the Patriots. This is the first time a QB under the age of 25 has won against a Tom Brady/Bill Belichek era Patriots team. I don’t want to quite count this team out yet because they have fooled us before, but the lack of chemistry between Brady and his receivers is a big problem for this team right now.
Tonight we have the Eagles with a chance to make some headway in the NFC East battle against the 2-10 Giants with Eli Manning looking to play spoiler. We also have a full slate of NBA games on the schedule so let’s get into it.
NFL Betting Tips:
New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles offense has been extremely up and down all season, but they have the good fortune of playing a team that is allowed 28 points per game on the season. The offense looked very good against the Dolphins last time out and they should be able to keep that momentum going at home here tonight.
Much is being made of Eli Manning getting the start here, but he was looking pretty washed in week two and was then replaced by Daniel Jones. I am not looking for anything special from him tonight and I think the Eagles can cover this spread easily.
NBA Betting Tips:
Toronto Raptors at Chicago Bulls: The Bulls played an overtime game in Miami last night and then traveled back to Chicago last night. This is also their third in four nights and I don’t love their chances here.
Toronto is 10-4 against the spread as a favorite on the season with a 3-1 ATS record as a road favorite. They know how to get it done in these games and coming off a loss to Philly, I think they’ll be properly motivated here.
Minnesota Timberwolves at Phoenix Suns: I am really liking Karl-Anthony Towns in this game tonight. The Suns will be without Aron Baynes again and that should allow Towns to feast here.
The Wolves are in the midst of a four-game losing streak and they have a rough stretch of schedule ahead of them as well. They are getting into desperation mode here and I think they know they have to get up for this one before the season spirals out of control. The rest factor isn’t great as this is their third in four nights and second half of a back-to-back, but it’s one of those games where that might not matter when the team is desperate for a win.
