Well our great run had to come to an end at some point. We went 0-2 in the English League One and Two games on the 14th.
We had Oxfurd vs Ipswich BTTS as I expected the top offenses to perform. Alas the top defences preformed there. There was plenty of shots but not too many on target and it ended up 0-0. One of those games where a goal would have opened it up but alas didn’t happen.
I thought the underdogs Morecambe would get a point in their home clash against Port Vale and backed the draw. Unfortunately they did better than that as they got all 3 points. They went up 2-0 early and held on all the way. Still second bottom but an important win that pulls them away from the relegation zone just a tad.
The weekend is fast approaching so let’s look ahead to Saturdays games. We’ll tackle the English Championship today:
Derby vs Hull Betting Tips:
Like many of you I am sure I am starting to pay more attention to Derby with Wayne Rooney now having signed.
They’ve had a piss poor season thus far but the way the English Championship is, all it takes is a nice little run to go from battling the relegation zone to being in the playoffs. And Derby are in the midst of that with 4 games unbeaten in a row.
Their must recent one was a 2-2 draw away to Middlesbrough thanks to a 91st minute goal by Duane Holmes. Now they’ll come home where they have a solid 7-5-2 record.
Hull City of course are no pushovers. They are currently 11th in the table but this is the type of team Derby needs to beat if they want to keep marching up the table. They’ve beaten Barnsley and Charlton but both of them are in the lower part of the table. This is a big test for them.
Both teams are average in terms of defense. Hull have been a bit inconsistent lately interestingly at home where they have lost 2 games in a row. Away they are performing better.
I think it should be a good battle and a potential draw is on the cards. However I like Derby to push hard here offensively being at home and also not giving up. I also feel their defense is leaky enough this one should result in goals. Hull are performing baout where they should be goals wise looking at the xG so I think they can get on the scorecard even though Derby concede just 0.79 goals on average at home.
Huddersfield vs Brentford Betting Tips:
Huddersfield are just above the relegation zone and will want to stay there. They lost two recent big relegation clashes against Barnsley and Stoke lately which was absolutely brutal for them.
So I think they will be up for this game. They generally perform well at home. They’re scoring goals at the moment and they showed recently with that run over Forest, Wigan and Charlton that they can compete.
They’re big underdogs and I think they’ll perform better here. 50% of their games at home have went over 2.5 but I like this one to go over as well. Yes Brentford have the best defensive record in the league which is concerning but they also have the 3rd best offense and I think they will concede a goal. Based on that I think they will be able to do the business and help put this one over.
