Hi everyone,
A fun start to the English Premier League last week.
We’ve got six games taking place in the EPL on Saturday, August 21st. We’ve got two games taking place in the Scottish Premier League as well.
I will look through all the games here and see if I have any betting tips.
Then following that, tomorrow I will cover the Sunday games.
Let’s get right into it and I am excited for another weekend of football.
Liverpool vs Burnley Betting Tips
Liverpool heavy favourites here. They got the job done for us last week. We had Burnley DNB but they blew a 1 goal lead in a disappointing fashion.
I expect a solid victory by Liverpool. Unfortunately, the handicap bet of -1.5 isn’t worth it at the odds and not confident enough to go -2.5. So no bet on this one.
Aston Villa vs Newcastle Betting Tips
Aston Villa are favourites here. They had a tough 3-2 loss to Watford. I backed the over in that one and it was nice and easy.
Newcastle lost to West Ham in a 6 goal thriller. Based on opening results, goals will hopefully be on the table here.
Villa may have Douglas Luiz back which would be a boost. This is a big match for both teams. I’m happy to go with 1u on Over 2.5 Goals at 1.72 odds.
Crystal Palace vs Brentford Betting Tips
Palace got thumped by Chelsea as expected. Brentford pulled off a wee surprise with a win over Arsenal.
You can feel some really great chemistry and camaraderie at Brentford at the moment.
One of those teams where I just find myself rooting for them and that actually gets me feeling some bias here.
I’m actually not going to tip this one purely due to that bias I am feeling. I can feel it tainting my opinion.
Leeds vs Everton Betting Tips
Leeds got thumped by Man Utd but before the goals were flowing in, they weren’t too bad. Everton got a big 3-1 win which was needed.
I’m going 0.5u on the draw at 3.45 odds.
Man City vs Norwich Betting Tips
I expect City to bounce back very strong here. It’s always risky betting on a big handicap and we will go with a small 0.5u on City -2.5 at 1.83 odds. We don’t have many losses to look at for City to compare and their bounce-back status isn’t anything special for big wins – but it happens enough I’m happy to back it. Especially with Norwich likely feeling down after that Liverpool result.
Brighton vs Watford Betting Tips
Brighton had that good comeback against Burnley. Watford had that solid win over Villa.
Brighton solid favourites here. Going with 0.5u on the draw at 3.55 odds.
Celtic vs St Mirren Betting Tips
After a slow start, to be polite, Celtic are starting to click. Their new signing, Furuhashi, is already looking darn good.
St. Mirren are still seeking their first win of the season and just got eliminated in the League Cup.
They’ve been good for goals but Joe Hart looks to be adding some stability in that Celtic defense. Hard to say. Either way, feel fine with a 2u bet on Celtic -1.5 at 1.80 odds.
Livingston vs Motherwell Betting Tips
Livingston come into this one having lost to Aberdeen and Rangers. Two tough games. Motherwell has only the one point so far although were eliminated in the League Cup by Dundee.
Both teams are desperate for a win and I think that will result in some goals. I am going to go with 1u on Both Teams to Score at 1.95 odds.
