A 1-0 record last night.

This game was just plain wild. The Mavericks entered the 4th quarter down 92-78. Damian Lillard had a monster third quarter with 21 points and it looked like this was going to be a loss. The the fourth happened and it was one of the weirdest performances the Blazers have had all season. They went ten minutes without scoring a basket and the Mavericks outscored them 24-9 to win by one point. Luka Doncic led the way with 28 points, nine assists and six rebounds.

We have a full schedule tonight including a red alert schedule alert game. That game is the Heat at the Nuggets. I love taking teams on the road at Denver, but the sportsbooks are fully ready for this one. They set this line at -10 and are not taking any chances. Denver should most definitely win here, but I’m not loving it at this line. Let’s take a look and see what does look good.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Houston Rockets: I was all set to write up the Mavs as one of my picks of the day, but the recent schedule is just worrisome to me. This is their their third in four nights and the second half of a back-to-back. The travel from Dallas to Houston isn’t as big of a deal as some other travel situations, but that’s still a lot of minutes on a team that is essentially shorthanded. Luka Doncic played 38 minutes last night while Dorian Finney-Smith played 35. So while that +10 looks very appealing, I just can’t pull the trigger here.

Chicago Bulls vs. Milwaukee Bucks Betting Tips:

After Saturday night I am going to say right off the bat that this bet should only be placed if Giannis plays. I like the Bucks roster and am a big fan of Khris Middleton, but laying ten points when Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the bench is like betting on a car without an engine to win the Indy 500.

The Bucks are coming off that bad loss to the Magic at home on Saturday and I can’t imagine that set well with the team or their coach. Yes, they didn’t have the Greek Freak, but that doesn’t excuse a 20-point loss. While this game against a lowly opponent would often be a night off, the loss on Saturday could provide a new level of motivation. This team has a really rough schedule coming up and I don’t see them taking any win for granted between now and that point. They have their eyes on the #1 seed in the East.

Chicago made a big move at the deadline to acquire Otto Porter and he makes the starting lineup work a bit better, but this team still bleeds points. They played the Wizards in their last game out and lost 134-125. That is a huge amount of points. Zach LaVine can score with the best of them and Lauri Markkanen is a great young player, but I just don’t trust this defense to do anything to stop Milwaukee tonight… if Giannis plays.
