How about those Cavs? They absolutely stomped on the Celtics yesterday and the new team looks different. We gave serious consideration to that game, but we felt like they needed a game or two to figure each other out. That looks pretty silly in retrospect. It’s funny how LeBron James is always looking for super teams, but the best he ever plays is when a bunch of players compliment what he does well. This is once again the best team in the Eastern Conference.
A tough night for our tips. We had the Pacers -9 and they won by… eight. The worst part about this one is that with 31 seconds left Victor Oladipo missed a free throw. He’s shooting 80% on the season at the line. Ouch.
We also took the Pistons and they seem to be doing the same thing they did at the beginning of the year when they gave us so much trouble. They started red hot and won a ton of games you wouldn’t think they would. Then they went on a horrible 7-game losing streak. They had a nice little run of .500 ball and then had a 8-game losing streak. Now they won five straight and have dropped the next two. Not sure if I underrated the Hawks or overrated the Pistons, but this is a tough team to trust right now. They are streaky in a bad way.
We aren’t messing around tonight, we’re going big and looking for the blowouts. Let’s get into it.
New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers Betting Tips:
The Sixers are starting to come into their own and have four of their past five. They’ve beaten some tough teams in that run in the Heat, Pelicans, Wizards and Clippers. When everyone is healthy and Joel Embiid is on the floor, this is a really scary team. There aren’t a lot of teams that have an answer for Embiid and Ben Simmons, two freak athletes.
New York is a dumpster fire right now. They lost Kristaps Porzingis and don’t have much to play for going forward. They’ve lost six straight and it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
This is a big line, but it really should be about five points higher. This is a mismatch of the highest regard. Sixers -12 is the early play.
Phoenix Suns vs. Golden State Warriors Betting Tips:
Here’s an easy one. You have the worst Defensive Rating team in the NBA against the best Offensive Rating team in the NBA. The best Net Rating team and the worst Net Rating team.
Throw in Devin Booker being listed as questionable and you wonder how this line isn’t -30. The Suns are a terrible, terrible defensive team and they have to play a team with Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. That is just not fair. I feel bad for the kids on Phoenix because this is going to be a beat down. Warriors -15.5 is a lot to give up, but it’s the lock of the night. Warriors coming out to play.
