Wednesday, February 13th sees two more games in the UEFA Champions League.
We’ve got Ajax Amsterdam vs Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur vs Dortmund.
It’s nice the way the Champions League fixtures are set up I have to say – with just two games per day. These two won’t play the second leg until March 5th. Always nice to have it spread out like this and give us action every Tuesday and Wednesday.
Let’s analyze both games then get on with the betting tips:
Ajax vs Real Madrid Betting Tips:
Ajax had a solid and impressive UEFA Champions League campaign. They finished second in Group E with ease. They were unbeaten during that with 3 wins and 3 draws.
They were also able to draw with leaders Bayern Munich twice including that thriller in Amsterdam to wrap up the group stages which had 4 goals in the last 10 minutes plus injury time. Ajax did a good job and deservedly finished second.
Ajax are currently 2nd in the Eredivisie, 6 points behind PSV Eindhoven. They’ve hit a tricky run of form domestically going into this one which really hurts as they lost to Feyenoord 6-2 and Heracles 1-0 in their last 3 games (with a 6-0 thrashing of VVV thrown in there).
Despite some domestic woes this season, Real Madrid had a solid qualifying campaign in the UEFA Champions League. They kickstarted it with a dominant 3-0 victory over Roma. They surprisingly dropped points to CSKA Moscow who beat them twice but other than that they were impressive.
They are coming into this one on the back of solid domestic form.
I think domestic form is what is swaying me. Ajax are stuttering a bit and appear to be losing a bit of confidence while Real Madrid are coming in playing good. It’s a tight one but I think Real can take it.
In saying that Ajax have been solid at home, Real would be happy with a draw and the odds for the draw are just too good.
My heart says Real Madrid win but the value on the draw is too good to ignore.

Tottenham vs Borussia Dortmund Betting Tips:
This should be an interesting one. Tottenham Hotspur only qualified over Inter Milan on a tiebreaker however their group was a tough one and they had a lot of tight games. Regardless of it being on a tiebreaker they deserve to be here.
They’re coming into this one on the back of four wins and their domestic form all season has been fairly solid although they do struggle against the top tier EPL teams.
Dortmund come into this on a rare bad run of form. I watched their game versus Hoffenheim and it was crazy how they just fell asleep in that one when they should have wrapped it up. Excellent first half performance and then they just went to sleep.
They qualified top of Group A by goal difference with 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss.
I’m just not sure I can trust Spurs at the moment with the injuries.
