The Washington Wizards are on some kind of streak right now. They’ve won five games straight up, which is nice but not all that impressive. No, the streak that I am talking about is their current against the spread streak in which they have won a whopping 10 straight. That is a HUGE streak. If for some reason you bet $5 on that first game and then doubled it with each win, you’d now have $2560. That’s insane.
It wasn’t that long ago that we were writing off the Wizards as a team that needed to rebuild and possibly needed to trade John Wall or Bradley Beal. Before their recent 12-2 run they were 16-18 and looking to be on the outside looking in of the playoff race. That just shows that sometimes it takes awhile for a new coach to click with his new team and a credit to what Scott Brooks has done in his first year there. Also, a big credit to Otto Porter who went from a potential first round bust to a really good three-and-D guy. This team still has issues, but as Crash Davis says in Bull Durham “don’t mess with a streak.”
NBA Betting Tips:
The Wizards are on top of the world right now. Not only do they have this streak, but they are currently on a home stand and have rested, at home, the last two nights. On top of that, they play the lowly Lakers tonight. The number on this one is big, but it feels like everything is going right for Washington right now including the schedule. All over Wizards -11 tonight.
A month ago, the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets were two of the hottest teams in the league. Since then, they’ve calmed down a bit but Houston is still one of the top teams in the West and Atlanta looks playoff bound. The total on this one is big, but both of these teams have been disappointing in that category as of late. They’ve gone under in seven of the past nine games and a lot of that has to do with having such high totals. While ATL has been over more often than not lately, they haven’t had a game total nearly this high. This just feels like two teams that understand each other and will be able to get stops. Under 222 is the play as Houston’s ridiculous scoring continues to go missing.
The Clippers finally have Blake Griffin back, but are still missing Chris Paul which makes them a pretty good but mostly average team. That is enough to compete on most nights, but this isn’t one of those nights as they face the Golden State Warriors. They are 11-1 over their past twelve and have turned into the scary force that we all expected them to be. The line is a mere Warriors -8 which is chump change when this team is involved and something we’ll be all over. This is a national TV game so the Warriors could be in show-off mode, while the loss of Chris Paul really gives the Clippers no hope.
