Group F in the 2018 World Cup kicks off with Germany vs Mexico on Sunday, June 17th. The other game in the group will take place the next day as Sweden take on South Korea.
The Germans are of course the holders of the 2014 World Cup when they beat Argentina in injury time. The tournament is mostly remembered for their 7-1 victory over Brazil in the Semi FInals.
Germany hardly broke a sweat in qualification with utter dominance. 10 games, 10 wins, 43 goals scored and just 4 goals conceded. They thumped everyone and the most impressive thing was how well spread out the goals were. Thomas Muller and Sandro Wagner were the top goalscorers with 5 goals each.
Mexico were CONCACAF Fifth Round winners with a 6-3-1 record in their gorup. They were impressive in the previous round as well with a 5-1-0 record and 13 goals scored with just 1 conceded.
Of course Germany are just a wee bit tougher than the likes of Canada. Just a tad.

Germany Analysis:
Is it possible that they’re even BETTER than last time out? It certainly seems that way. Their attack seems even more lethal than previously and they’ve got that ridiculously sick defense.
The depth Germany has is absolutely insane. They could easily field two or even three teams that’d be amongst the favourites to win the world cup.
The only issue is they are missing the leadership of previously like Schweinsteiger, Lahm and Mertesacker. Not a huge deal that but that’s the type of thing you kind of want in the later rounds.
Mexico Analysis:
Mexico have an excellent history in the World Cup and have qualified from the group stage 6 times in a row and are looking to make it 7.
They’re strongest in attack and while Javier Hernandez is the one people are talking about most, I’m very excited to see Hirving Lozano. He just seems to be going from strength to strength and had an amazing season for PSV.
However their attack is going to have to be at their best to get a goal against Germany.
Germany vs Mexico Betting Tips:
I just can’t see by the Germans. They’re just too damn good. They opened up the 2014 World Cup with a thumping of Portugal and I see similar.
If Mexico can get something past this defense then good for them but I’m backing Germany -1 and I’m going with 5 whopping units. 2.30 odds is a great price in my opinion considering the strength of this nation.
