After the disaster that was the Madeira Islands Open, completely obliterated by the weather and rescheduled for July – the European Tour heads to Morocco this week, for what should be some much nicer weather.
This tournament became part of the European Tour in 2010 as a co-sanctioned event. It also moved to the current course, the Golf de Palai Royal in 2011.
It’s obviously going to be a very tricky course to handicap, with the field that is participating. But that’s both good and bad news – it allows us to get value on a lot of top quality golfers.
This is one with high variance in terms of betting though so if you have a tight bankroll you may want to sit this one out. Let’s check out the odds and tips we have for you:

Hassan II Golf Trophy Betting Tip #1: George Coetzee
We have to go with George Coetzee at that price. From what we have seen of him he is on form at the moment, and has a great chance of cracking the top 5. He won the last event that went to a conclusion.
Coetzee has also played here twice before. In 2011 he cracked the top 5 and came 4th, and in 2014 he came 11. Now sadly when he did that there was a big depth from the top couple. he came in at -8 while Canizares won it at -19 and Sullivan was -14.
But Coetzee is a golfer who looks to be on a good run at the moment, and is a great price.
Hassan II Golf Trophy Betting Tip #2: David Horsey
When you look for golfers who dominate on this course, the first one that jumps out is David Horsey. Since the new course, he has had some incredible results. 1st in 2011, 14th in 2012, 2nd in 2013 and 8th in 2014.
Horsey also is showing a bit of form as he was 10th in the European Tour a couple of weeks ago after a bunch of missed cuts. Horsey is pretty much a no-brainer bet.
Hassan II Golf Trophy Betting Tip #3: Alejandro Canizares
Canizares did not just win here last year – he DOMINATED. Now granted that was due to a 62 day on the first day which really helped. But he still had some solid consistent scores and that’s the real key to it. Everyone else struggles but he managed to do a 68 and 69 and 70, under par every day. Only a handful of golfers managed to go under par.
Canizares is 30/1 which is a good price.
HASSAN II GOLF TROPHY RESULTS & ANALYSIS:
Ho boy did we get lucky to cash in this one.
It looked great going into the final day with both David Horsey and George Coetzee in the Top 5. Unfortunately both had poor days. Coetzee thankfully cashed for us as he came tied for 3rd, but could have been much better.
Still – money is money!
