Hey, a win last week!
We bagged Jon Rahm at 8.50 odds. That saw a $267.75 return on our $31.50 bet, and a 1.142u profit bet for the week.
I’ll take it. The 75/1 bet Wyndham Clark came tied for 33rd, Justin Thomas had a bad 2nd round otherwise would have been in contention on Sunday, and Spieth was a disappointment. I was happy with the Rahm one as I spent some time tweaking my system and the overall scores for players based on the metrics. He was an overwhelming one last week by the score system so that felt good.
This week we’ve got the Honda Classic on the PGA Tour. Hopefully all the work with my new website calms down within the next couple of weeks so I can get back to covering the LPGA etc. Always love that as it’s so much more data intensive I feel.
Honda Classic 2023 Betting Tips:
Not the best field is it. My system thinks Sungjae will contend, but there’s just not enough to bet him.
$31.50 (1/4u) on William Gordon To Win & E/W at 70/1
If you go by course and current form he’s not even a contender. But if you go by the metric in a weakened field, he might just surprise especially with his GIR & SG T2G stats. Enough for me to back him.
$31.50 (1/4u) on Shane Lowry To Win & E/W at 14/1
Not a great price, but he is up there in the metrics, it’s a poor field, he looked good last week and played well here last year. Ticks enough boxes for me.
Finally I am throwing a 1/8u ($16.50) on Padraig Harrington at 70/1. Decent outsider pick but nothing more. DId win here in the past but also missed a ton of cuts. Looked solid at the Chubb Classic though with a strong performance.
