It was Wildcard Weekend in the NFL, and we saw wins for Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Seattle and Kansas City. More accurately, we saw chokes from the Bengals and the Vikings, but, hey, let’s not worry too much about that and focus more on the developing playoff picture. The Patriots are still the favorites with the bookies, but it still looks wide open, and Packers fans will have been delighted that their offence finally clicked and they managed to put 30+ points on AND win.
Elsewhere, the FA Cup saw the shock of Oxford beating Swansea City. There wasn’t much else in the way of huge shocks, although Aston Villa and Bolton really should have won, and it just shows how poor league form just affects the team in matches that they really should be winning.
And Scott Waites is the second darts World Champion of the year, winning the BDO World Championship at the Lakeside, beating Canada’s Jeff Smith in the final to become a two-time world champion, and he pockets £100,000 for his week of work, too, which is always nice.
Now, let’s get onto the free sports betting tips for January 11th, 2016.
NBA Betting Tips:
Not a great deal of selection for us in the NBA tonight. We have the Spurs travelling to the Nets, the Wizards visiting the Bulls, and the Heat going to the Warriors.
But what are the plays for tonight’s NBA action? Well, on first glance, it looks good for the favourites here, but the line for the Bulls against the Wizards looks a bit high for me. The Bulls weren’t good at all against Atlanta, and sure, they could bounce back with a big win, but 8 points? No, I think it should be considerably closer than the line suggests, so Washington Wizards -8 is definitely the play here. While the Warriors and the Spurs should (and will, no doubt) win, there’s no value to be had in the inflated lines, as they’re capable of doing them, but will they? Eh, it’s a coin flip, so no value. But get on the Wizards and as long as the Chicago performance matches that against Atlanta, we’ll be fine.
NHL Betting Picks:
Like the NBA, not too much action in the NHL tonight, with only four games for us to get our teeth stuck into. Florida Panthers to beat Vancouver Canucks in regulation is the first play for us. The Panthers are going well, while the Canucks are just not firing at all. The only problem we can see here is the Panthers are going back-to-back, but it shouldn’t be too much of a problem for them, as they really are playing well. Oh, and there is that little undefeated streak that they will be looking to defend.
Also, Red Wings and Kings Under 5 goals is our other play of the night. Detroit had a tough and ugly game against Anaheim, which isn’t going to help them going into such a tough game against the Kings. The Kings are solid, if unspectacular, and it looks like the kind of game that will be a grind for whoever decides they want to win it. Expect some ugly and gritty action tonight.
