A 2-0 record in NBA last night. That’s back-to-back nights with 2-0 records.
I love teams that hold their leads. We took the Celtics -10 which was a big number, but right away they jumped out 28-14 in the first quarter and never looked back. This was a classic Celtics game with Jayson Tatum finishing with 21 points, Jaylen Brown with 19 points, Kemba Walker with 14 points, and Marcus Smart with 12 points and 8 assists. I love the way this team plays, but if you are looking for crazy box scores – this isn’t the team to watch.
Speaking of crazy box scores, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander had an amazing one last night in the Thunder’s win over Minnesota. He had a triple-double with 20 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. Reminder: he’s a guard. This box score broke the league record for the youngest player with a 20 rebound triple-double. The previous owner of that record was Shaq. Reminder: he’s a guard. Crazy.
Utah Jazz at Brooklyn Nets Betting Tips:
The Jazz are the hottest team in the league with a nine-game winning streak and they have won 14 of their past 15 games. They face the Nets on the road tonight and I am liking their chances to continue the run.
Brooklyn has won two straight, but before that had lost seven straight. I am not totally convinced that they turned the corner and there is something about Kyrie Irving facing this Utah defense that sets off all the alarms in my head. They take things away and stifle players, and Kyrie at his worst can play into that as he tries to be a world beater.
The Jazz are on a road trip which can be tough, but Donovan Mitchell sat out their last game and should suit up tonight. That puts him in a well-rested position which should help a lot. I think the Jazz are rolling right now and I don’t think the Nets are quite over their struggles just yet.
Dallas Mavericks at Golden State Warriors Betting Tips:
I looked at this game a few times before ultimately deciding to pick it. The thing that swung my vote? The Mavericks road record. They are an awesome road team.
On the season, the Mavericks are 13-4 against the spread on the road and 6-2 against the spread as a road favorite. This team has always done a good job of getting up for road games and with a three-day rest period before this one, I expect them to do exactly that.
Dallas is coming off a killer three-game stretch where they played Denver, the Lakers, and the Sixers. They have to be licking their lips at this tasty match-up against the Warriors.
Golden State is Golden State. You know who is out and you don’t really know who is playing. They have lost their last eight games, a streak that started with a 20-point loss to… the Dallas Mavericks.
With the strong Mavericks road record and the poor Warriors everything, I am all about Dallas today.
