Tonight features a match-up of the top two seeds in the Western Conference. The top seed is just 0.5 games back so if they second team wins, they are the new top seed in the West. Which is crazy considering what they’ve been through this year.
The top team is the Denver Nuggets and the team #2 seed is the Golden State Warriors. If you had said that the Warriors would be chasing the Nuggets for the top of the West at the beginning of the season, I’m not sure I’d have believed you.
Denver has been very good this season though. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic have really continued to develop and now make a very potent one-two punch. They’ve had a good defense that has struggled of late, but when Paul Millsap and the game are healthy – they are formidable.
Golden State is always the story of this league and the on-court argument between Kevin Durant and Draymond Green has painted the whole season. Green’s struggles haven’t helped, but this team is playing well of late. Denver is a tough place to play due to elevation, but the Warriors should be able to get up for this one as they have to know what’s on the line here.
NHL Betting Tips:
Las Vegas Golden Knights at Winnipeg Jets: This is a pure home/road play for me. The Knights are just 13-12-1 on the road this season and are facing a tough home team in the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets have a certain amount of motivation for this one as well since they were eliminated in the playoffs by Vegas last season. I like the odds here and think the Jets are a nice play.
NBA Betting Tips:
Oklahoma City Thunder at Atlanta Hawks: This one honestly feels weird to type. The Thunder have been one of the best defenses in the league and are at the top of the West while Atlanta is headed for the lottery.
That said, the Thunder are giving up too many points for a road team in my opinion. This line should be like -5 or -6.5 at the most, not -8.5. The Thunder have really struggled defensively of late and have lost three of their past four. I don’t feel great considering the talent gap, but I think Atlanta is a nice play here.
Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets: Denver is one of my favorite teams to take at home and I think they will be fired up for this one. The crowd should be rocking and this is definitely the game of the night. While there should be a lot of good feelings around the Nugs, this is still the Warriors and they still have more great players than any other team in this league.
My main thought here is the Denver defense as well as the recent play of the Warriors. Denver has struggled a bit on that end of late while Golden State has scored at least 115 in seven straight. I see both trends continuing and an over here.
