The long awaited match-up between the two best teams in the NBA finally happened last night as the San Antonio Spurs and Golden State Warriors faced off in Oakland. The game ended like many of the Warriors games this season with Golden State absolutely steamrolling over their opponent and winning by 30 points. Of course, it’s only the regular season and Gregg Popovich famously doesn’t like to show his hand when it doesn’t matter. The Spurs played without Tim Duncan as well which further proves that this one was “just another game” for them. Still, a 30 point loss is a 30 point loss. Just ask David Blatt who basically got fired from the Cavs for getting smoked by the Warriors despite being the best team in the Eastern Conference.
The other big story of the night was DeMarcus Cousins. After winning Western Conference Player of the Week honors for last week, Cousins came back with a huge game against the Charlotte Hornets when he dropped 56 points for Sacramento in a double overtime thriller. That is the highest total for any player in the NBA this season. The Kings ended up dropping this one after Boogie Cousins fouled out in the second overtime and he was no longer able to carry them. Still, what a great performance. The Kings will be back in action tonight.
There is a full slate of NBA games tonight for us to choose from as well as a plenty of hockey games. Life without football is just fine.
NBA Betting Tips:
After playing a double-overtime game last night, the Kings are rewarded with a flight to Portland and another game tonight. This is one of the toughest things an NBA team will do and I just have to think they’ll be tired for night. Boogie Cousins definitely left it all on the floor last night and it’ll be really tough for him to match that performance tonight. Portland -2 is a strong play based on the Kings great performance last night.
Another team who is on a back-to-back is the Orlando Magic who travel from Memphis to Milwaukee for tonight’s game. The Magic have lost four straight and get a tough match-up tonight against the Milwaukee Bucks who have been playing much better as of late. The Bucks have been off since Saturday so they are by far the more rested team and they have played great at home this season. Everything seem to be going Milwaukee’s way for this one and Bucks -5 is our play here.
The Wizards lost by 25 points at home last night against the Boston Celtics and now head to Toronto for a game tonight. Sense a trend in the picks today? The Raptors have won four straight and we’re rolling with them. Raptors -8.
NHL Betting Tips:
The Penguins and Devils have been a big disappointment this season and they’ll face of tonight in Pittsburgh. The Devils have won four straight coming into this one and I really like the way they play with Corey Schneider in the net. He’s been a solid goaltender for them and the Penguins have had trouble scoring this season. I like the odds on this one and I’m taking a flyer on Devils +170.
