1-0 last night.
It was very nice to start off 2019 with a win last night as the Bucks blew out the Pistons. They starters combined for 93 points for Milwaukee with Brook Lopez leading the way with 25 points. More impressive is, of all five starters, the highest minute total was 30 minutes. The Bucks not only won this one, they got it done in short order. Wonderful.
There was a game that I was on the fence about as Joel Embiid was listed as questionable against the Sixers. Well, it’s a good thing I stayed on the fence as he ended up playing and putting up a monster 28 points and 19 rebounds en route to a road win.
We’re on a nice little three game winning streak right now. Let’s see if we can keep it going as we look at tonight’s games.
Miami Heat vs. Cleveland Cavaliers: Miami looks good here as they are getting out of the injury hell they’ve been in. It looks like James Johnson might play and even Dion Waiters is listed as questionable so he’ll be back soon. The only thing holding me back here? The Cavs are on a six-game losing streak. It might just be superstition on my part, but it feels like I’ve been burned one too many times going against a home team on a six-game losing streak. That tends to be the point when teams say, “okay, enough.” Then again, Cleveland is really bad. Proceed with caution.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Boston Celtics: I very nearly went with the Celtics here, but with Kyrie Irving listed as questionable and a -6 line I decided against it. Boston is great at home, but it feels like maybe this will be a good night for Karl-Anthony Towns. Best to stay away.
Detroit Pistons vs. Memphis Grizzlies: Detroit got waxed last night and now plays the fourth game of their road trip in which they are 0-3 thus far. I’d probably go with the Grizz here if they had won one of those, but it feels like we’ll see some effort to salvage the road trip here. Memphis hasn’t been looking great of late either as they are just 2-7 over their past nine games.
Dallas Mavericks vs. Charlotte Hornets Betting Tips:
I am surprised to see this line so low. Dallas are 2-16 straight up on the road this season and 2-5 as a road underdog of six points or less. This has just been a terrible road team this year and it’s hard to have much confidence in them. Yes, Luka Doncic is great and Dirk Nowitzki is back, but I’m going to believe it when I see it with this team. Dallas is just 2-8 over their past ten games.
Charlotte has been much better of late and has won their last four home games. They have a 14-7 record at home on the year and Kemba Walker has been doing amazing things all season long. It feels to me that this line should be much higher, my system says -5, so let’s take advantage of that and grab it.
