Wow, what a crazy game that National Championship game turned out to be. Georgia looked like they were rolling, but Alabama changed quarterbacks at half time and the true freshman Tua Tagovailoa led them to victory. He did it in spectacular fashion too as in the second OT, down three, with a 2nd & 25 play, Alabama ran a four deep set and Tagovailoa connected for a 41-yard touchdown pass. Unbelievable. Sadly for us, Alabama only won by three after laying -4.5.
That ends the college football season so tonight we focus back on the NBA and NHL. We have three basketball games and a hockey pick we’re focusing on today so let’s get right into the picks.
NBA Betting Tips:
The Blazers and Thunder face off tonight in a match-up of two of the NBA’s best defenses. They rank 4th and 5th in Defense Rating with the Blazers being one of the surprise teams of the year in that category. The Blazers will be without Damian Lillard in this one so the line is set pretty high, but I like the way their defense has held up without Lillard and they should keep it close. Blazers +8.5 might not win this, but we like them to keep this game close. The Thunder are just 11-24 as a favorite against the spread this season.
The Raptors have been one of the best teams in the NBA this season while the Heat have been a bit of a disappointment this year. Toronto might be without Kyle Lowry for this one which has this line low, but the Raptors have gotten this far by having one of the deepest rosters in the league this year. The line on this is a bit low based on that Lowry injury, but that doesn’t worry me in this one. I like the Raptors -4.5 to get it done tonight. They have played great at home this year with a 14-1 record (9-6 against the spread) and the Heat are a great match-up for that to keep going.
The Mavericks have had a really rough time at home on this recent home stand as they’ve lost three straight to the Bulls, Warriors and Knicks. They were really playing well before that and tonight they have a chance to right the ship as they face the lowly Magic tonight. Orlando has been one of the worst teams in the league and I expect the Mavericks -6.5 to grab the win tonight.
NHL Betting Tips:
The Blackhawks face the Senators tonight in what should be a high scoring affair. The Hawks have gone over in five of their past six games and will be without star goalie Corey Crawford for this one. Being without Crawford has super charged the offense of late and tonight should be no different. The Senators have gone over in their last two and will have to score to keep up. Over 5.5 goals is our play in this one.
